I scored aluminum drive shaft out of some Ford F-150/250. Can I put it to use in my car by cutting it to the right length and using my U-Joints? The thing was free and I was thinking I could get some use out of it by shaving off some lbs on my car.

Uhh I wouldn't mess with it. Recycle it then go pick up a 1LE or LS1 driveshaft.

+1. If it's not the right length, when you cut and re-weld it, even the slightest misalignment will cause a vibrations. Look for an LS1 driveshaft, you can get em cheap.

I'd scrap that shaft for 5 bucks and put it towards an LS1 shaft. They can be had for 50-100 depending on the deal you get.

Cool screw it then I just brought it home from work I was like cool! But where can I get an LS1 shaft just like f/s sections on forums and craigslist and stuff? Maybe I'll call up a bunch of scrap yards .

Check the f/s sections, calling a scrap yard would work too...

Ebay has them occasionally. 125-150$ is the average price they go for.
I believe I got mine for 125$.

I have seen some people get lucky and get them for 75-100$. All depends on the seller/auction and such

I already found one for $150 with a, 1350 conversion yoke? That's a yoke for a Ford 9" swap right? So would that drive shaft work with my stock rear? Only thing is local pickup only and he lives in Chicago. :(

Haha that is not local to me sir! I'll just wait till one comes around, or I could get one for $75+shipping now, and have it hang around for a few months or so.

I thought about driving mine into work today but we have a PT cruiser with the head off of it on the only lift my car will fit on :(

I have a few more goodies to put on but havent had the chance too.

i hear ya man! winter stinks around here even though its a long period to do nothing but work on your car, but if you don't have a heated garage you have to wait for good days.

You could buy an LS1 shaft cheaper than having that one cut, welded and re-balanced... wonder how I know that.... :jest:

With a 9 inch yes, if you have the yoke for it. Not for the 10 bolt.
