Okay well the car is movable now and I have done a few heat cycles the motor.
Time for the very first oil change. I've done so much reading on different reasons to run different oils I'm completely lost and I'm not sure what to run for this motor.

So most of my tolerances are .002 I have one .0015 these are my main bearings. ... all of my rod bearings were .002 ... I have no idea what oil viscosity. I'll be changing the oil every 2000 - 2500 miles ... it's not intended to be a daily driver but when it is driven it's driven quite hard ... yes it will have nitrous ... what are your guy's opinions?https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20171009/debddc84f910e312b62871cbf20e3507.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20171009/0f2c43782367adfcbcc5e1761b794657.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20171009/5497d4755c34a35b674d24137c68b227.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20171009/54fc2e499b9142f10247f81a21fac06e.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20171009/a75323b212f0d7b615756aeabd2d23d6.jpg

I was thought to use what you use all the time just change sooner in the begining. Obviously.

on the phone using Tapatalkno, synthetic alot of times is too slippery and doesn't let things bed in, such as rings and bearings. you want everything bedded in and settled before you go synthetic.

In my opinion as a tech with 30+ years experience this is all I run. I've never had an oil related failure in my life with castrol products. And I've run the dog pi$$ out of all my vehicles. just maintained them correctly.

Conventional oil is cheaper and I change it probably prematurely at around 2,000 miles or less. So i'll stick to that. I just didn't know if somebody made a brand of oil that's intended for shorter intervals and stronger protection for a motor that's going to be beat on really hard.

With the racecar the oil gets changed once it gets to be a little brown on the dipstick. .... it never get to look dark brown or black.

Rotella 15w40 T3 stuff.

Its cheap, and I have a bunch of it in the garage. So far no issues with it.

Seeing 30-40psi at idle makes me feel warm and fuzzy. Loss of HP be damned.

I have always used Castrol GTX. The weight depends on your bearing clearances. Op can use 5 or 10-30

for setting the rings I do the first drive cycle running the car to 3500 rpm (I have a 6 speed but auto use low gear) and let the motor engine brake down. do this a few times then increase to 4500 rpm. This loads the rings both accelerate and deceleration. Then just drive without maintaining a steady rpm for long. change oil at 500 mi, then 1000mi then every 2,000 mi
