i am doing a TH400 swap and looking at 4.11 gears ... how does that 3+1 setup hold up

He has a gear vendors over drive unit if im not mistaken = 3+1. :-)

Correct.... Built TH400, reverse pattern manual valve body, with a Gear Vendors 0.78:1 O/D, Strange 12-bolt with 4.11 USA/Strange Pro-Street gears.

Very reliable, but unfortunately, has spent more time on the dyno than on the track. The GV came out of George Baxter's 9-second 30th SS convertible, then in another guy's (John McMullen) 9-second 25th T/A. Took a lickin' and keeps on tickin' !

The GV is capable of splitting all 3 gears, so I guess technically it's a 3x2 rather than a 3+1, but I never used it as anything other than a "4th" gear.
