View Full Version : *** JCz Nova - 1972 LTX Nova - Project: Nova II ***
JCzNova

Here begins the build thread. The project name is kind of a play on the earlier generations of Novas being "Chevy II's." With everyone calling there second go around "2.0" it seemed more original and rolls off the tongue.
Certified Performance introduced the project over HERE (http://ltxtech.com/forums/showthread.php?29814-Project-Nova-II), and they now have it into a roller status. This makes it easier to move around while my wish list and parts lists are all ironed out.
Now we begin the journey, that is planned to be completed in time for the 2016 LTX Shootout. Barring anything catastrophic, physically or financially, this goal seems very realistic. That being said, here.... we..... GO!!!
After many trials, tribulations and having to get the right body shop and enough funds together, we are now on track for the 2018 LTX Shootout. BE THERE!
Part of the ingredients to make a "Hot Ride" is: (1) Part - HOT MESS, so here it is.

The stock, ugly, heavy, crying for some Certified Performance attention, front end:

Let's not forget where the body shop had to cut off BOTH, yes BOTH roofs skins as the previous owner figured slap the new one on top and weld them together:

You are correct. I have one that will throw my back out if I pick it up. Creaks and gets that color change stress marks when I move it too.

The body work getting under way with some, media blasting, roof skin install, and some sealer:

Hanging out with the Certified Performance "Shop Truck"

What could have come out of these?!?!
http://ltxtech.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=38293&d=1520559066
Maybe some tubular control arms and some C5 front brakes:

Add a little power rack & pinion because.... Street & Strip Racecar:

Look at the mass and weight difference there!

The new fuel tank all set up for fuel injection:

Went with some budget friendly front wheels for now, wrapped in MT's. Wasn't sure what final color I was going with paint-wise and wanted to get that ironed out, then choose the final wheels and then figure out the 9" rearend width once I know what wheel sizes I would be purchasing.

Sooo, I didn't want to go with the generic cowl hood, and at the same time didn't want to be TOO Street Outlaw. Thus, settled on this "Sunoco" style hood.

Considered a LOT of color options over the last two years of this project, and when it got down to the wire last month of making a decision, I narrowed it down to these two from House of Kolor. Yes, I have chosen one. No, I'm not going to disclose that at this time :D There is a twist with the color that I chose anyway, so you will see it.... after I do!

Probably going to be stock this year or a cam at most, as we see what the best winter route ends up being build wise. I want to go with a D1 orthe all too popular twin snails and prefer to leave the car running while starting with another block in case it isn’t built in time for 2019.

She is now! The extra time hurt, but doing it the right way now to hopefully have a good body for decades is worth it. If it ever goes into the wall, just don’t be the first person to the car to check on me lol.
The hood should look a little calmer when the paint hits it. I just couldn’t be another Nova with just a cowl hood.

They are the Jegs, and will be what I end up running for at least this year budget-wise. The Jegs SSR wheel is also an attractive affordable wheel.
I am really digging the aerocatch hood hardware too!
