I think s&w would consider this a sub compact because of the barrel length (3.1"). These are single stack mags though, so it's got a thinner grip than the regular m&p. These are similar to an xds

It has a trigger safety that won't allow the firing pin to strike unless the trigger is pulled, like a glock, or xds
