Hi Guys!!! So I am new to the sight. Glad I found a site dedicated to LTX motors. So I have a question and really would like some sound advice. So as many of you have seen, I have a 68 Nova with an LT1 in it. I do want to put my complete LT4 in it but want to change the cam. Being there is a minimum of tuners around for LT1's, I am debating if I should do the conversion of the 24X with use HP tuner to program the LS1 computer? My wife has been nagging me to take the HP tuner classes so I can become familiar myself on how to tune. I know its not something you pick up overnight. But would you do this and do you think the class offered would help tuning? I am not new to cars and pretty much do all my own work. Tuning is new to me. I have messed around with Tuner Cat and changed settings for minor changes. No serious tune work on my own though. I am not concerned on the cost of the 24X kit if it will benefit me down the road. I do want to add my T-Trim supercharger at a later day as I also have an all forged 383 with LT4 heads and a 610 lift cam and 60# injectors also sitting on a stand waiting to go into something. Big reason I haven't used this combo is for the tuning aspect. What would you guys do?

If you have the chance to learn, take it.
Building a trans and tuning my own car are stuff I wish I knew how to do.

I have not taken the class. I didn't know there was something like that offered. I visited the site that your asking about. Looked like a good deal for around 2,000 dollors for enthusiasts package.
I wished they offered something like that for the LTX cars.

If you are self taught like myself and serious why waste the money. There are so many free tuning guides, its silly to pay for it.
I would say winter is a good time to start reading up and bookmarking how to's. Youtube can show you half the stuff.
The HPT forum has more useful information than that tuner class. You can also ask for the info for free on the forum.
You can easily get the basics down, get the car running and driving. Then you learn how to dial it in.
There are several nuances from software packages(and vehicle platforms) but the theory and fundamentals are the same. You need to learn how a motor works, to tune it.
You need to know the theory of what makes a motor run air fuel spark different heads ect, to tune it. The software/pcm just makes the motor do what you want it to do.
For me learning and researching has only gained me knowledge. IMO most people are lazy and just want it done, they dont look for the challenge of learning and doing it.
