Well it seems all the torment at the beach this weekend left some marks. I noticed after all the laps around the track, i blew some coolant out of the reservior. Thats actually what made me stop. Anyway i assumed it was just from pushing it so hard.

Well shes been pushing some water out past the cap it seems so i thought maybe, hopefully...cap was bad... changed the cap and today on the way home figured i would push it to see how it went as far as blowing any past the cap. Started missing...so i think we all know whats happened :( when i got home it was bubbling a little.

soo waa, but oh well. anyway, point of the thread is.

Any recomendations on head gaskets when spraying nitrous?
I assume this is probably partially what caused this...i just used the regular felpro ones that came in the kit when i assembled it. I see some recommendations for the 150 dollar mr gasket ones. but thats nuts. I will probably just change whichever one is bad with another cheap felpro...but i figured i would ask yalls advice.

thanks in advance guys. Whos gonna come help?

What was your total timing when spraying? Usually over timed is the cause of lifting heads/ blown gaskets.

I really like cometics gaskets

Anything MLS is nice. I have trickflow MLS stuff and reused em after blowing motor round 1.

I run a felpro 1074, worked well. Blew it at the shootout, probably going mls next. Didn't know trickflow made one.

Well i got it apart. number eight is blow on the gasket. doesnt seem bad at all. The other bad news it, it seems i have broken every single double spring. I know i have over reved it a couple times by accident when trying to shift so thats probably what did it :(

as far as timing, i was running 30 degrees total at wot all the time, on nitrous and off 125 wet shot
Thanks for all the advice guys

Ophhhh... when u get lemons...

Think about studding the heads to help keep them down in the future.

30 commanded or What its showing in the logs ?

What springs? Lets see some pics . If you broke a bunch of springsyour pprobably gonna see ptv contact.

If you broke that many it would raise an eyebrow. How big of a cam and what pressure on the seat and nose?

It's like 28 commanded but it gets to 30 in the logs. Not sure where the extra is coming from.

I'm not sure of the brand of the springs.I think they were good for 600 lift but I have no idea what the pressures are.

I did find the specs ony cam. It's a comp 276 510 lift. So nothing too crazy there.

It definitely raises an eyebrow, I still haven't pinpointed why the dampers broke. I don't see any piston contact on the cylinder I pulled and none of the valves seem bent. Those dampers getting chewed chewed upy valve guides too though. Looks like Im gonna have to do guides and a valve job as well

Well your timing is ok for.a stock short block on.such a small shot.

Hard to.say on the springs without seeing a part number or how they were installed. For them all to have issues is odd. Almost like they all got very weak and let
go. You know how long they have been on?

Id guess.if it were me id check tthe slugs and cylinders out. If eeverything looked good id reassemble them with a good set of pac springs locks retainers and valve seals and have the heads slightly milled to ensure a flat surface and have the heads gone threw with a good valve job.

Get a set of appropriate cometic heads gaskets with arp bolts or studs and re install.

How did the valves look ?

Any chewed up?

Beauty of a mls cometic is they can be re used a bunch.

I cant find any numbers on the springs. The springs have been on right at 30,000 I bought them new when I put it together last year.

Valves looked fine, can't find any damage. I'm actually working the head/valve job right now. But I have to see if I can find some guides locally .

I maaay get some arp head bokts but that's a big maybe ha-ha. I'm a cheap skate. Common I put brand new autozone bolts in the heads last year....lol

As for the gaskets those are high as well but I guess I may make that sacrifice for a shim gasket that's reusable.

Any sponsors here that might sell the guides and head gaskets if I can't source them locally?

I appreciate it. I suppose it would be a good idea. I'm cutting it close on cash and fixing this though ha-ha. Pm me a price if you don't mind and I'll decide asap ha-ha. Trying to figure out how much I gotta spend this time ha-ha.

I can't ever afford to fix it right but somehow always manage to afford to fix it a second time.

From my experience its cheaper using a quality REUSABLE bolt like the arps than buying shit over and over. Im a cheap ass and completely understand where you are coming from.
I just make up reasons in my head on why its better.. like if i buy a nice set of heads or i want to change head gaskets if i add some boost i know they will be ok...
