Back in April of this year I had the 4L60e in my 1996 z28 rebuilt at a local shop. Before the rebuild it ran great, shifted fine and I was happy with it. It then chewed up the rear planetary gear with the sun gear. I have only put about 2k miles on it since then and lately it has started acting weird. When the gear shifter is in overdrive it starts off from a stop in first gear, but with it in drive it starts off in 2nd gear. When I merge into traffic in overdrive it will hit the rev limiter and slip into the next gear. But when in drive it shifts great and doesn't hit the rev limiter. I'm at a loss and spent a lot of money to get a quality job done. Any input would be great.

Have you taken it back to the place that built it? It sounds pretty obvious that they either overlooked something or did something wrong. The first place to start is to see what gear the PCM is actually commanding for the shifter position. The issue with "merging" sounds like they put the wrong 3-2 down shift solenoid on it.

I haven't contacted them yet, as my work schedule is keeping me busy. I did buy a 2 year warranty from them. How do I see what the computer is commanding?

Update: I dropped the camaro off about a month ago and just got the call to pick her up. Apparently the torque converter had a mechanical problem. I'm soo glad I bought the extended warranty lol, it was replaced at no charge. It ran great on my way home and everything seems ok at this point. If I have another problem with this transmission I'm going to pitch and go th350. Now it's time to throw on some new parts that have been sitting in my room for a while.
