View Full Version : Question about 12 bolt rear

I've found a Moser 12 bolt here locally for a good price. It has 4.10s and a HD posi, 33 spline axles, etc.

It was pulled from a wrecked 1988 IROC-Z, and it had been under that car for an unknown amount of time and mileage.

My question concerns the dimensions of the rear. Since it was under a 3rd gen car previously, will it bolt up to my 4th gen or am I going to have issues with that? Is the width the same?

Thanks.

The 3rd gen is roughly 2" shorter per side than a 4th gen. You will need different wheels or wheel spacers to run 4th gen offset wheels.

It will however bolt up exactly like the 4th gen axle. May want to check on what brakes it uses also/housing ends.

They will bolt up the same but the wheel spacing is different. With that said you may have to run wheel spacers to make your current wheels or different wheels with the correct off set for correct spacing.if you have traction control and plan to keep it working you have a four channel rear end and non traction control rear ends are three channels.
