I have Datamaster downloaded on two different computers. One is running vista, the other is running windows 8.1.

I downloaded the drivers, but have no idea if they were installed or not. When I download and open them, a window pops up with 8-9 files in it, with a bar that says "add, extract, test, copy, move, delete, info"(I'm sorry, I'm not very computer savy if you can't tell)

For the computer running Vista, the ALDL cable came with a cd to update to the correct driver. I installed that, and when I plugged in the cable, a note came up saying installing drivers, your device is now ready to use. I plugged it in, started the car, and no data showed up on the tables.

So i tried it with 8.1, nothing popped up when I plugged in the computer. Being that I have never used this before, I tried to record data incase that was a step I missed, nothing, and now am down to 19 recordings on that computer. I am missing a step somewhere, if anyone has an answer, I would greatly appreciate it.

I'm assuming your using a USB adapter since you talk about loading drivers. Did you select the proper COM port in the options? The default is typically COM1 in Datamaster but the USB adapter is almost certainly not going to be on COM1. You need to go into the settings for the USB and find out what COM port your adapter is on and then select that in the Datamaster options.

I figured it out. I was doing to wrong steps to record it. Part of it was selecting the right com port.
