I am having a dilemma. Right now I am on a mail order tune from Solomon, and the car is running fairly well, but I have been taking it easy on it.
My original plan was to take it somewhere to get tuned, but that is turning out to be more complicated than I anticipated. There are not a lot of people who tune lt1s near me, so I am looking at going places 3-4 hours away. The cost of doing this is starting to become clearer to me. We are looking at a hotel, a hundred dollars in gas if I drive, or more if I trailer it. Plus the dunno time seems to be at minimum $500.
i also run the risk of breaking 4 hours from town, or having something go wrong, something that needs to fixed and making the trip a waste.
i know Solomon does some more extensive mail order tuning, I'm just wondering if anyone has any experience with this, or if it is a viable option. Or do I just say eff it, she's running good right now and roll the dice. Mods in sig.

I have thousamds of dollars in tuning alone over the past 13 years... i get it.
For mail order tunes... i would use our own Moe B.
Hes also a site sponsor under the screen name. MoeHorsePower
Im on tapa talk so i cant see ur mods or how complex ur build is

Did you just name most of my mods? Lol moe can handle that. Similiar to ltconvert's 94 pre supercharger that moe tuned.
On the contrary, I have heard some things about Solomons tunes, and wasn't impressed when speaking to him, so I went with moe.
OP: your build can be tuned very well with a mail order, if the tuner is good. It's not a overly complicated full build. It's relatively mild in comparison to some

Thanku Troy...
Ur nods should be pretty common for a good mail order tune. Talk to Moe.
Ive never dealt with soloman... so i cant compare.

I have had no issues with Solomon, and honestly, this is would be the first time I have ever heard someone didn't care for him. I have had no reason NOT to go back to him. I guess my biggest dilemma is whether or not to continue doing mail order tunes whether it's with the Solomon or another tuner or to make it to a Dyno and get it tuned with the mods that I have.
The car is running great with the mail order tune I have from him. The tune I have is one where I gave him all my information with what's done to my car, and he formulated a tune based on that. I know there are more in depth tunes where they scan it or hook up a wideband and do a mail order that way, which is what I am considering vs spending 5 times that amount to get it dynod. Money is tight for me right now, my wife finally is back to working after not being able to work for 10 months. I'm a little more budget conscious here lol.

No mail order tune will be as spot on as a dyno tune where everything is being monitored.... so if ur haooy with it... enjoy. If it feels like it should have more im it... or better driveability... save uo and get a good dymo tune... or get the software to data log and u can keep sendimg info back amd forth as u street tume it.

Solomon's tunes are pretty damn close and dataloging and sending back to him gets it done. My son's car was good to go on 1 datalog. Threw my wideband in and away we went and all looked good. Most good tuners such as Moe will get you pretty damn close. Each car will react different to a canned tune. For the money you would spend on a dyno tune for the mode you have, a better investment would be dataloging software and a good wideband. Keep in mind, some tuners out there tune for a number and not drivability. If the car drives around good and has good manners and wideband looks good, roll with it.

Soloman tuned mine last year. I just finished installing a w/b and now feel it was almost a waste of money cause I cannot hardly believe how close the a/f ratio is for a mail order tune not even going to adjust it.

Ive tuned several different cars using different software. That said...
I used Solomon when I literally did not have time after a cam swap to do my Z a few years ago(moving and renovating a house) It also gave me an awesome BASE tune for cheap. I Learned a bunch from his tune as well.
I did the email power tune and his tune was awesome. Taking a week or more between emails was not a problem for him at all.
The PCM was set setup PROPER, there was no fudging or incomplete tables like ive seen on many other Vendor PCMs.
Corresponding with him was a pleasure. His knowledge far exceeded mine which was relieving. The dumpy lt1 pcm is an archaic piece, that few have the patience for anymore. I know i dont.
OPs setup is so common i wouldn't worry about a standard tune for it. It depends on what you want.
A road tune/track tune is generally better than a dyno tune. You can properly milk power out of the car at the track just like a dyno, only its real life real loads shifts areo ect. Its tuned for the road/track not the dyno.
I personally would never spend that much money on a dyno tune or drive that far.
