so i have the motor where i want it and some stuff waiting to make it go faster when this one lets go ... i have a fully built 1995 4L60e but my car is a 94 ......DAMN...... any way if/ when this tranny lets go i am thinking i just want to go old school and do a TH350 with a trans brake. i know the speedo wont work but there are ways around that i have heard. car dont see much highway use ... but RPM's dont scare me too much ... its not my DD so i dont care about MPG too bad.
so how many people have done it?
what will i need?

If you use a 9" tail with a 375 output shaft you can keep your driveshaft . Converter trans dipstick cooler. ... tune needs to written as a m6.

You can run a speedo. I do in mine. I have a ls1 vss sensor in mine.

I've read guys using the front ABS sensor for a speedometer input. Dakota digital makes converters for old school transmissions for a digital speedometer.

I have one in mine. I love it, FMVB is still a blast to drive.

Half decent converter. 500
Fluid dipstick etc 200
Trans completely depends on how you outfit it. .. A decent build is going to run 1100 without a core . You can look for a used one but it's a gamble
There is another option for installing a 350. Fitz All makes a conversion kit that makes it as close to a "bolt in" as possible. The kit comes with a new ouput shaft that allows the use of the stock 4L60E tail housing and speedo. It uses an aluminum block that goes between the case and the tail housing. This block is also drilled and tapped so it locates the mount in the stock location. The original 4L60E speedo parts can be used on the new tail shaft as can the original driveshaft and torque arm mount. The transmission needs to be disassembled to install the kit though.

can i buy one from you with the kit already done?
Yes. I can get you a price together for a build. My parts guy is out today. I will check on a price for the kit tomorrow. it's been a long time since I've bought one. We have manual valve body TH350s on our site, but we don't have the transbrake 350s listed. http://cahallperformancetrans.com/Builds_and_Pricing.html A transbrake valve body would add $250 to the 'Pro Race" price. I should be able to supply a transbrake TH350 that's ready to bolt in for $1600
