Just wondering if anyone has ever used one. I know it only works on the B&M shifters and the Pro 5.0. Thinking about getting one for the Z..

I know its been a while since you asked this but I ordered one back around the time you posted this and just got around to installing it today. It actually works pretty good, although my Pro 5.0 shifter is shortened so I had to modify the arm that goes into the ring to make it work. It wasn't hard to install otherwise, you could probably do it in under 30 minutes if your Pro 5.0 is the stock length. It makes the 2nd to 3rd shift impossible to miss. For $80 I'd say its worth it.

Ohhhh... i like that. Now i shortened by b&m ripper. Wonder if that will cause me issues. I took an inch out of it.

I'm pretty sure you will have to, I had to take about 2 inches off the arm rod to get it to work with my shortened Pro 5.0. Then I put a notch in the rod about 1/4" down from the top and had to grind down the set screw end to make it flush with the outside of the ring. Probably added about an hour worth of work since I didn't want to make anything too short and ruin it. If your handy with a grinder you won't have any issue modifying it, it just takes some extra time to get it all fit properly.

Huh, that's interesting, although I don't think I've ever accidentally went from second to fifth. I just push straight up from second and let the centering springs do their work.

Popo, while you're on that thought, how do you like the shortened Ripper? I've got one and have been contemplating shaving an inch off.

Oh no, that's ok. Thanks though. I heard a few gripes from others that had chopped theirs, but most seem to like it. And it's not a very popular shifter on the other site. Now I just need to find a good die to cut some new threads.

Honestly, I think this is a scam. In my experience going into 5th or 6th has never been a problem when going doing a 2-3 shift. The majority of the time it was either the syncros in the trans that was preventing it from going into the gate. Or the instant centering of the shifter wasnt stiff enough to move the shifter over to in into third gear. Dont get me wrong...Im not knocking the idea. Well, yes I am. But you guys get where I'm coming from.

If you've ever went 1-2-1 you tend to over compensate from that point on to make SURE that never happens again. I could see this helping out in that aspect.

Been there done that... 1-2-1 when it was all stock... that was my last 1/4 mile pass with the z...

Yea I did it on my first 6 speed. Worn out syncronizers and didn't center up very well.

glad the MGW shifter has strong springs, i've never had that problem with the bird.
i missed a 2-3 once in a C6 grand sport, shifting at 7k. oops.

This would be the one that concerned me, not the 2 to 5. I've done a couple accidental 1-2-1 and I really don't want it happening again.

That's where I see the benefit to it. It would allow you to push the shifter positively to the stop and into 3rd gear instead of relying on the centering springs

EDIT (^^^^THAT^^^^) LOL

But if ur not worried about the 2-5 shift...u lessen the odds of the 2-1 shift cause ur not trying to FIND the sweet spot... ur being guided right in to it...

Yeah, that's what makes it such a good thing to have in my opinion. Instead of thinking about it and trying to get the shifter to go in between 1 and 5, you just push to the right and you can't miss with the 5-6 lockout engaged. While missing 3rd and going to 5th isn't a big deal other than the lost time, missing 3rd and going to 1st can be very damaging. Much more than the $80 cost of this device.

I'm not saying the product listed above doesn't work or am bashing it in any way, but I wanted to point out that there are a few wear items in your shifter and where it connects to your trans that can be addressed first. When I first installed my Pro 5.0 shifter I had one instance where i went 1-2-1 and I blame it on improperly set centering spring pressure in the shifter and a worn cup in the transmission where the pivot ball of the shifter engages. I installed springs that were a little stiffer and use the adjustments on the shifter to get the feel just right. The shifter pops back to center every time now. I then replaced the plastic cup in the transmission with a bronze one with much tighter clearance. There is absolutely no slop in my shifter now and makes hitting the gears much easier. With the tight shift pattern of the T-56 any slop will only make it harder to hit shifts and will hurt your confidence when you approach that shift light.

With only these two things changed I made hundreds of 7100 RPM shifts without missing a gear, I can't even remember the last time I missed any gear after I replaced those two items to be honest.
