dumb question here is there a way to just pull timing when spraying?
car is a 1994 Firebird Formula all stock except 28" slicks, LCA's, open long tube headers. in the past i was running a 150 and just two step plugs (BR7ES) i didnt pull any timing ... and i am wanting to go up to a 200 so i want to get one step colder plugs and pull some timing now.

Retard box or $20 cable and free tuning software

I'm nitrous retarded. How much timing needs to be pulled and is it just at WOT?

Msd ditigal 6 box or mallory 685 box. They both can pull timing, have built in window switch, 2 step, rev limiter, and start retard.

Cheapest route is threw a tune. Take your 90 to 100 kpa tables and subtract 8 degrees from each cell...

Or as others stated buy a box and wire it in

Yes just wot... good starting point is 2 degrees per 50hp.

problem with using the tune to pull the timing is you will have less timing n/a as well.
back when i ran nitrous, i thought about putting a switch on the coolant temp sensors with a resistor. my thoughts were that i could get a resistor that would equal a giving coolant temp and then retard timing at that temp. changed setups before i got around to it lol

could you tell me more about that ... that seems like something i would like to look into

I loved my Mallory 685 box. Has timing retard for nitrous, 2-step, soft rev-limiter, window switch, etc...
Works well and not too expensive.

The mallory or msd boxes are the easiest IMO. I just sold my MSD box and adapter last year, unfortunately. IIRC, the Mallory has more features and doesn't need an aux retard box.

I use digital 6 with Nitrous outlet progressive controller. Makes it easy to adjust timing.
