I thought I'd post this here instead of the other site because of all the fan boys. I'm looking for some honest opinions on the MGW shifter. It gets rave reviews over there, but then that doesn't impress me because the manual section is full of fan boys and band wagons.
I currently have a B&M Ripper, had it for years and I'm fairly happy with it. But I'm wondering if there is room for improvement. Has anyone gone from this to an MGW, and how did you like/dislike it? Please don't compare it to a stock shifter, I'm not interested in that discussion. I'm really more interested in those that have moved from another quality aftermarket one.

I had a Ripper in my 01 GT Mustang and loved it. I currently have an MGW shifter in my Z28 and really like it, but it is really stiff. That could be from it still needing broken in, I only drive the car on nice days, but it seemed much stiffer than any other shifter I've ever used. On the plus side though, I have never missed a shift with it. I'm sure once it gets some miles on it, it will soften up a little, but it is a very high quality piece, probably the best machined shifter I have ever seen. The fit and finish was perfect. I would highly recommend one.

Thanks for the input. Do you mean stiff as in the centering springs? I realize it's not really apples to apples, but how is the throw compared to your Ripper? I was thinking of shaving an inch off mine, but all I do is spirited street driving.

Yes the centering springs are very stiff. It's been a few years since I had the ripper, but the MGW does seem to have extremely short throws and I have mine set as long as the handle will allow.
