You can spray all you want...but the ports may not be able to move all of it....I started maxing out a set of ported castings on my 396 on a 200 shot...picked up little to no power between the 150 and 200 jets and distribution started to go south....switched heads and picked up 100 hp on the same jet size

Youre not going to be able to feed them any more than that just like Chopstix said. They just dont have the intake OR exhaust flow to get it in and out as quickly as you need.

I am looking about getting a plate kit from nitrous outlet and doing a progressive controller. But doing a about a 250 shot is the goal

start small and work up to the larger shot. You will want to watch the plugs closely for timing, A/F, and distribution

The motor/head can ingests so much then the nitrous will actually start to back up into the intake and start flowing out the throttle body, thats when the boom factor really starts to come into play.

I know that it will start pooling and I don't want that ... so that is what I am wondering is where that spot is. This my seem dumb to ask but can I spray a bigger shot if I go with a direct port set up cause its spraying into the port with the valve open as opposed to being sucked into the ports from the vacuum when that valve opens

Every combo being the same is different, someone with the exact same set up as your may get away with say a 250 shot, and your might only like a 200, Its like tuning, add your nitrous, what ever, say start with a 150 shot, then up it until you see no power gains. One car we went up to a 250 squeez, then we went up another 50 horses and it only made like 5 more HP, We new we had hit the limit with the 250..But of course dont just keep adding, tune accordingly..

If you're on a budget a direct port isn't cheap. ... if you already have the bottle, 6an line, filter etc (pretty much everything but the direct port itself)... and all you need is the bungs welded on the intake, plumbed , fflowed and parts. I think the cheapest you could get it done would be around a 1200 .. It was around 550 for me to have bungs welded and plumbed for labor .. you'll need to still buy hard line, d blocks or rails, jets and noids which should be in the 750 dollar range. ..

And that's just the intake being done... I spent 3 grand on mine but that's a complete deal with every single thing needed..

honestly if I were you and your working with a set of stock castings that are non ported I would put the plate on it and start small and work on up and see where it's done. .
