Swapped to an M6 and this is my reverse lockout fix....

I recently did the A4 to M6 swap in my 95 Z28 and didn't really like forcing my shifter into reverse, so this is how I remedied it.

I spent weeks trying to find a shift knob with a 12v button that I liked, and really couldn't justify spending $45 or more for a knob that I really didn't care for, so I did the next best thing.

I went to Radio Shack and bought a $3 12v button, and drilled my factory knob with a large hole on top and a small hole on the bottom for the wires to be fed through. Trying to drill 2 holes without hitting the threaded hole in the center wasn't the easiest thing to line up, but luckily I got it.

Problem about using the shift knob mounted button is that I really wanted to use that button for a line-loc down the road, so I wired it to an ON-ON rocker switch. That way I can use the button for the reverse lockout, and then flip the switch and I can use it to run a line-loc. I added the rocker cover and led for fun, but I like the way it turned out. The switch panel is not really that grey, for some reason the flash makes it look a lot lighter than the rest of the dash.

Huh........that works for sure! When I swapped a members car, I used one of the remaining trans solenoid lines and repinned it into the correct location for the Reverse lockout in the PCM, then tapped the power for it from the backup lamp which is right there. Worked like a champ.

I thought about doing it that way, and may still do it later, but I didn't want to have to reflash my PCM with an M6 tune since it already had a tune done to it. I know that it could all be changed over in the PCM but for the time being this works great.

I'd recommend having that tune done. There's differences between the auto and manual cars.

How did you correct the speedo for the difference in tooth count between the 4L60E (40 tooth) and the T56 (17 tooth) VSS reluctor? Don't you now have a lot of codes for the missing 4L60E interface?

No codes at all. Here are the changes I had to make for my car having 3.73 gears with the tires I have. I checked the speed with my gps and it is spot on.

Scalar: Speedometer Scalar changed from 30.00 Divisor to 13.00 Divisor
Scalar: Speedometer Scalar, Fraction changed from 0.99 Divisor to 1.01 Divisor
Scalar: Speedometer Scalar, (Scan Tool) changed from 50.50 Divisor to 50.54 Divisor
Scalar: Time Between Pulses For 'Stop' changed from 29.71 msec to 68.54 msec
Scalar: Speed Pulses Per Driveshaft Revolution changed from 40.02 Pulses to 17.00 Pulses

Not sure if it being a 95 contributes to it not having any fault codes or not. I originally tried to reflash the PCM to a manual bin, but couldn't get it to take, so I just left it with the a4 tune and changed the above. I didn't have any codes even before I changed the PCM anyway.
