We just rebuilt the engine on my 96.The only change was an LT4 hotcam.
The shift points are set at 6000. On the 2-3 shift at WOT, it won't shift until 6300-6350.
By the time it gets to that rpm its misfiring almost like its hitting the rev limiter.
It will shift but it works to get there. Pcm was retuned for the cam, I've tried 2 different Pcm's. Fuel pressure is good. Any ideas?

Is the transmission built to handle the higher RPMs? The 4L60E is designed from the factory to start dropping pressure at 5000 RPMs. The shift timing for the 2-3 shift is usually very long in factory units, especially if there's any wear on the 3-4 clutches. While the computer may see it starting the shift at 6000 RPMs, it's not completing it until after 6300 and it's most likely hitting the rev limter. You can try knocking your shift point down. If that doesn't work then it might be time to have the trans built so that it can operate correctly at higher RPMs.

What did the tuner set the rev limiter at? The engine should easily rev past 6400. You might have valve float or an ignition problem. As far as the tranny shifting i have no idea

Frank, The trans. is a GM Goodwrench rebuild that came in the car, been in the car for the last 6 yrs I've had it. Mileage unknown. I would guess a lot.
I'll try dropping the shift points and see what happens. If it doesen't work I'll be giving you a call. Thanks

Miller, The rev limiter is set to 6500.
