^^^That part is not really necessary on this site. Everyone here is damn honest, and good people. Thats why this forum and community stands out from the OTHERS.

The swap will not be cheap and may be timely... if a stick is what you must have, I understand, however if its the matter of not having a good builder to make you a strong auto... we have a sponsor on here that knows his stuff when it comes to autos.
Cahall from CPT can help.

Sounds like you need a competent trans builder. Unfortunately, there are a lack of knowledgeable 4L60E builders out there. If you're dead set on a 6 speed swap, that's OK, but your 4L60E CAN be built to take whatever you want to throw at it. Let me know id I can be of any assistance. What exactly keeps coming apart in the one's you're having built?

Be aware that an M6 is not a panacea for transmission problems. With a high HP build, you will beat the crap out of the clutch, the trans, the driveshaft and the rear axle. And you better be a real pro when it comes to shifting. After my stroker build I kept the T56, and added a McLeod Street Twin. The car already had a Strange 12-bolt with 3.73's. Wind it up to 5,000 RPM, drop the clutch, and power out of the hole. The shock to the drivetrain is massive. I had a nylon ballistic blanket around the bell housing to contain any clutch fragments. Even with the Strange 12-bolt, I could perceive small changes in the sounds of the rear after these assaults. The Mark Williams 3" chrome moly driveshaft with solid 1350 u-joints held up fine.

Then there was the issue of making sure I hit the 2->3 shift. I missed it once, and it became a mental roadblock, even though I had been driving manual trans cars for more than 40 years. My data log showed the engine hit 8,000 RPM when I hit 1st instead of 3rd. Embarrassing as heck, and fortunately no damage - a credit to the engine builders at Second Street Speed.

So I went the other way.... built TH400 (engine makes 800HP / 800 lb-ft at the flywheel). Then the rev's cruising on the freeway drove me nuts (almost 4,000 RPM at 70 MPH with the now 4.11 gears and 26" street tires). So an investment in a used Gear Vendors O/D to bring the RPM down closer to 3,000 RPM.

If you can get a well built 4L60E, I think you will be better off.

PS: I sold my T56/McLeod Street Twin/Pro5.0 shifter/skip shift eliminator/ballistic nylon frag blanket as a package for $2,200. Turns out the bearings in the T56 were just about gone, and I told the buyer to have it rebuilt at my expense and refunded him $400. I also sold a spare T56 from a 97 30th SS that had been run at about the 750HP level, and only got $500 for it, because the bearings were shot in that as well. AS noted, the T56 is not a cure-all.

See post #5

There are competent 4L60E builders out there. Just ask around.
