View Full Version : Stand alone engine computer--T56 problems

I'll try to keep this short.

I installed the accel DFI Gen 7 and got it tuned fairly well on my turbo setup (before tearing it down again for my 383 build) but my speedo wouldn't work and I couldn't shift into reverse without having to overpower the lockout solenoid. When I would shift into reverse it didn't know it was in reverse, the reverse lights wouldn't come on. I had the stock PCM still connected to the wires that go to the trans and a few other sensors, (can't remember everything that was still connected, it's been a while since I messed with it) I took the harness apart and rebuilt it with only the necessary wires. At first I thought I may have installed some wires wrong but I have checked everything multiple times.

My basic question is

What setup are you guys running to control the transmission (T56) reverse lockout solenoid and the VSS, etc... when using a stand alone engine computer??
open to any and all suggestions/criticism.

THANKS

Justin

Backup lights are controlled by a switch on the passenger side of the trans. Has nothing to do with the PCM. I used the stock PCM to run the speedo, reverse lockout, and IAC. Older MoTeC I use can't control a stepper type IAC. Guy that installed the stand alone left stock harness, moving all the required wires to the stand alone.

Trans has been switched to a TH400, so reverse lockout is not an issue any more. But PCM still runs the speedo, with a Dakota Digital box to calibrate the VSS signal.
