I'm getting ready to put a set of 4.10s in the rear on my T/A. The car has 208k miles on it so it's due for a full rebuild. What are you guys using for rebuild kits? Rockauto has a kit for 75ish without axle bearings and seals, and Advance has a Motive kit for 100ish. Both with Koyo bearings. Anyone have any suggestions? Obviously, I'd like to keep costs reasonable. It is a 10 bolt after all.

It's a shame Thunder Racing disappeared.... they had a great selection of rebuild kits, with a clear list of the parts included in each one, and the benefits of each upgrade.

In any case, you might want to consider using the Ratech solid pinion spacer rather than a crush sleeve.

Richmond sells several level kits, with this content:

Half Kit
Pinion shims and seal
Crush sleeve
Cover gasket

Complete Kit
Pinion shims, seal, bearings, nut, and washer
Crush sleeve
Cover gasket
Ring gear bolts and washers
Thread locker
Gasket sealer
Marking compound and application brush

Mega Kit (For a total rear rebuild)
Pinion shims, seal, bearings, nut, and washer
Crush sleeve
Cover gasket
Ring gear bolts and washers
Axle bearings and seals
Thread locker
Gasket sealer
Marking compound and application brush

I second the solid pinion spacer.

I used the Motive kit from summit with Timken Bearings. I also bought a super cheap set of pinion bearings and honed out the ID of them to use as setup bearings. This can be hit or miss. Make sure to Mic the bearings and make sure your within .0005" on overall length with the bearing seated in the race.

I did not use a solid pinion spacer, but I've never had the crush sleeve be my point of failure in a 10 bolt. I would recommend a solid one as I think I am going to change mine to a solid spacer if it starts to whine or make noise and I open it back up.

On a side note as a recommendation:
I highly recommend getting a girdle cover and welding your axle tubes to the pig. It makes a big difference in the life of a 10 bolt, especially with 3.73+ ratio gears. I have actually seen enough force applied to the girdle cover to spread the cover from the pig and leak fluid on the dyno without having the tubes welded to the pig. Your carrier moving backwards as the pinion climbs and the axle tubes flex forward in traction causes most gear/carrier failures in the 10 bolt.
