I am currently working on swapping my 95 Z28 A4 to an M29 out of a 93 Z. I have the 93 for parts, and have all the mechanical parts off that I need. Im just curious if there is an easy way to modify the 93's wiring harness to work with my 95's harness, or if it would just be easier to cut the pigtails to all the connectors and splice them in place of my 95's.

I guess to simplify that question is....what parts of my 93's wiring harness if any could be used to wire up my 95 doing an m6 swap.

Thanks.

Did you not get my PM that I sent you?

Yes...sorry I figured I would get a little more info before I replied. I wasn't sure if I would need the harness at all since I had a wiring harness to the 93, and figured if I could just swap stuff from mine to work it would be easier. I appreciate the quick response and might still be in the market for the harness if I can't use the M6 harness I already had easier.

What harness are you saying you have? There's no specific M6 or A4 harness as the wiring for those is integrated with the ECM/PCM harness and depending on if it's an A4, the interior body harness also.

The 93 T56 will have a harness connection on the driver's side for the VSS and the reverse inhibit (lockout) solenoid (PCM harness). It will not have a skip shift solenoid (added in 1994 models).

See this diagram for reverse lockout:

http://shbox.com/1/1995_pcm2.jpg

You will need to run a wire from pin D6 on the PCM to the reverse inhibit solenoid. And a ground wire to pin A of the solenoid.

For the VSS, see this diagram:

http://shbox.com/1/1995_pcm2.jpg

The harness wires from pin A31 and A32 to the VSS already exists. Check the harness connector to see if it fits the 93 VSS. As I recall, there is something different in the 93 VSS - maybe the number of reluctor teeth???, or it's gear driven??? - so you will have to verify the 93 VSS puts out the correct pulse signal for the 95 PCM.

You will have a new switch on the clutch pedal that prevents the engine from cranking if the pedal is not on the floor. That switch is the equivalent of the P/N switch on the automatic shifter. This diagram shows you how the starter circuit/body harness incorporates the clutch switch or P/N switch. It's simply a matter of moving the yellow wire and brown wire in your 95 harness to the correct switch on the clutch pedal (there is also a switch that turns off the cruise control when the clutch is moved).

There will be a connector for the back up light switch on the passenger side (not PCM related). You will have to extend the connection that is on the A4 shifter to the connector on the side of the T56. This diagram show the difference between the T56 and the A4:

Thanks for all the input. Im going to start on this Thursday hopefully and get 3 days of work done on it before Easter.
