10 bolt 373 moser axels, my neighbor suggested I for the price of a rebuild look into a 9inch.

This. For what you'd pay for what would essentially be a ticking time bomb, you would be well on your way to even a new 9 inch or whatever other axle you have in mind. If you need the car, I would find a used 10 bolt to get it going again then baby it until you can get a beefier axle. That's what I did after I blew up the 3rd 10 bolt in 2 years in my car, and I didn't even really beat on it that hard.

well at least it held the night before while racing a 5th gen and put him in his place lol. but yea I want to look at the 9inch or 12 bolt..

Thats some good carnage. I like it.

It amazes me how some 10-bolts will live through anything, and some are just junk. I have 208K miles on mine, and it's been beaten on hard. Not even a peep out of it. My buddy went through a few in his 3rd gen.

yea this car had the original rear end 240k with pretty much a fresh 383, so it lasted a long time. As for third gens I went ahead and got a 9bolt that some third gen were optioned with.

Honestly bud,
Don't pay to have that rear rebuilt. I literally can pull a rear from a salvage yard from down here and ship it to you for less.

Pull a 10 bolt from a salvage yard and baby it. Then save your $$$ for a 12 bolt/9"

yea man, im going to take it to a shop and get a real quote first. I just looked a thread about QP 9" rear but he only got the housing and axels for 1050. I read he said it didn't include everything. I have a friend with a turbo'd 408 lsx he just got a 12bolt idk if I said it already but I want to get with him and see what his deal was.

yea I want something like that, but I have to save money for that. the thing is is that I really don't want to go to the drag strip too much with this car.

Mine is a street car future drag car, see my thinking is is why spend more money in the future? Just save and get the good rear end and be done have it rated for ALOT even if u only have like 300hp ya never know when you'll want to go faster, build your car back to front

I was looking into this myself, and really, it doesn't come out to be too bad of a price. Getting the housing, axles, and torque arm mount for 1050. Then you can go to the junkyard or swap meets and get a center section for pretty cheap. Grab some gears, a rebuild kit, and a ford Trac-Lok for a few hundred, and come in under 2,000 for one of the strongest, and easiest to work on rears available. Then the Trak-Lok is rebuildable. If weight is an issue, you can get an aluminum center section too.

I think it's a damn sweet setup for the money. Tons and tons of options.
