I've searched google and cant seem to find a straight answer with this. Would a similar year s10 converter make much difference on a fairly stock car? I just have full exhaust, gears, intake, and a tune. I realize that buying an aftermarket unit would be the best option, but I am talking about just budget wise, would this make enough of a difference to get one?

it does have a slightly higher stall but it is a massively weaker unit. you will blow through the converter and when it fails its going to take the tranny with it.

Alright. I will look to spend my money somewhere else then. Paying for a new tranny is not high on my list.

I can sell you a higher stall Protorque converter for $350. http://www.protorque.com/street-muscle-torque-converters.html
These are a true performance converter, as opposed to the weak/inefficient S-10 converters.27746

Okay. I'll keep that in mind here in the next few weeks. What stall speed would you recommend? The car has 3:73's and normal bolt ons like full exhaust, intake, and a tune. Also does it need a retune with the new stall?

That particular converter will stall right around 2500 ACTUAL stall behind your engine. You don't want to go any more than that. This is the same converter I was using to run 12.82 @ 106 MPH with a completely stock LT1 in my '93 Z.
You shouldn't need a retune unless you're over 3000 stall

Okay, sounds good. And is that 350 the shipped price?

Yes. The $350 includes shipping.

Alright, will do.

This converter works great on the street. Since it is a TRUE STALL it will flash to 2500 behind a mostly stock car, our heads/cam car it flashes a little higher. Car drives nice and smooth, almost stockish until you whack it open, when you do, it does exactly what you want it to do. Locks up nice on the highway as well.
