I will apologize now for bringing up a non-vendor, but this seems like a good deal. ~1065 shipped for a 9" housing for a fourth gen and moser axles.

Anyone run one? I am dangerously close to pulling the trigger. I plan on using a rebuilt center with new gears. Not sure on a posi or spool, but it sounds like all my aftermarket suspension stuff will work which is huge.

I am having a hard time justifying over $2k on a complete rear so I am really liking this.

So everything but brakes and center
Section ???

What width
Gears?
Diff?
Series yoke?
Who makes the center section and aluminum/iron?
What spline axles?

Only thing I would tell you if its a factory nodular iron case I would strongly suggest to ditch it... there weak will develop cracks around the pinion and explode

Ya and what popo said just a housing and axles? That's no deal.. a decent center like a strange nodular case is like 700 and if you decide to go with a good posi like a s trac add another 400. Spools are the cheapest

This is JUST a bolt in housing and axles. Stock width, would like to run 3.73s or 3.90s if I can. Not sure if I will go spool or traclock. 1350 yoke. I will be providing a center if I go this route. Most likely iron since I have access to a couple for FREE along with spools.

31 spline should work fine for my application.

Just looking to save money and replace my stock glass rear.

I sent them an inquiry for more info. They have a good deal of reviews as far as fitment and strength. They also sell centers and a bunch of other stuff.

The goal is the spend under 2k on a driveshaft and rear and I havent seen any good deals otherwise. Either that or I will risk the 10 bolt and aluminum shaft for awhile and there is no sense in that.

You can buy on their site of their ebay page. Here it is: http://www.ebay.com/itm/251449823904?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

I haven't decided to pull the trigger yet. I need to inspect the centers I have access to first.

Its a good deal, when I was looking at them I could do a fully optioned rear (albeit with spool) for around 2200 area. Smoking deal.

Doesn't souund like a bad deal, usually you'll tie up the same amount of $ in the housing and axles as you do in the center section. Sometimes the center is more $ depending on what you get. Make sure the housing ends are setup for your brakes and how do they attach the TA?

If you already have a cast center with a spool do it... the Trak lok is a good piece had one for a few years, they are 31 spline application only.

Do you know what bearing support?

And is it a 10/12 bolt housing end?

Probably gonna ditch abs unless you set it up for it

Some good info there. Thanks guys.

I have attached two pics from eBay and two when I was searching for a visual on how the TA bolted up. They should shed some light. I think I will be able to get away with using my new-to-me adjustable Spohn TA.

That makes since, I was wondering if it used the upper and lower heim joints and bracket modified for the stock style TA like in the pics, or the older Moser style that used long bolts. If it was the old kind I was gonna suggest looking for one with the style you posted.

I have read nothing but good things about them, going to pull the trigger on one very soon.

I bought mine from them, Gbody specific not Fbody, and I have been very happy with it especially for the price. $1500 with a cast center, spool, and Moser 35 spline axles. I agree that the cast center section is weak but it's a huge improvement over the 10 bolt crap I was tearing up before. Two years worth of beating on the cast center and so far so good, and now I am just upgrading it so I can spend the money on what I want. My advice would be plan on the end power level you are shooting for and spend the money on the parts you can upgrade along the way to get you there. Too many people spend money on upgrading weak parts and cheaping out on the important stuff.

Just bought a 9" from QP and it was a little cheaper ordering over the phone than via their site and eBay. Awesome customer service, very knowledgeable and honest. They will be scoping out this forum.

If you want to order a rear, talk to Bryden @ 641-751-8060. He's a fourth gen f-body guy and really nice to deal with.

I decided to go with just their housing and axle package for now. I'm going to be rebuilding an old 9" center with fresh gears, carrier, and likely a rebuild kit off their site. 31 spline axles, 1/2" studs, no ABS, and I will be able to keep most if not all of my fancy new/new-to-me suspension parts. The PHB I got was a cheapo non-adjustable unit and I'm lowering the car an inch so it may need to be replaced.

Popo- I just realized I misspelled Performance in the title of this thread, can you fix it?

Thank you.

What was the problem with the "older" Moser torque arm support? This one's behind a 1,350HP setup in a 3,600# 97 SS Convertible......

Never a problem, ~1.30 60-ft's, low 8's close to 170MPH.

This was really the only negative complaint I heard about the rear that relates to the TA mount: http://www.thirdgen.org/techboard/ltx-lsx/582765-not-liking-quick-performance.html

The rear was in a third gen, but looks like an isolated incident.

Love the pics. I remember seeing your s/n years ago on fbody.com when I first got my T/A!

The thirdgen thread you linked actually doesn't deal with the Moser 9-inch TA mount. If you read way down in the thread, the negative comments are about the TA mount on the Moser 12-bolt. That's the one that uses 4 individual bolts into the housing to attach the torque arm, rather than the 2 long stock-style through-bolts. The Moser 12-bolt is notorius for the 4 individual bolt coming loose and causing damage to the torque arm. That is the disclaimer you see on the BMR website, voiding the warranty if used with the Moser 12-bolt.

I thought it was about the TA mount for the QP 9". I read that last year sometime and that was one reason I have stayed away from the QP 9" with my BMR TA. I have heard they have or will be offering the QP 9" with solid mounts instead of the rod ends to keep that from happening to people with adjustable TAs.

Not really a problem with it it's just bulky and heavier than other options that use heims directly on the housing like the newer M9. For some reason I thought it used the 4 bolts like what's mentioned with the 12 bolt but looking at your pics I don't know I've seen one like that. The one I was referring to attached to the housing the same way but bolted up to the stock TA.

I got my 9" QP housing weeks ago along with the Moser axles. The axles came pretty quick but the housing took a few weeks as they are built to order. I don't have too many pics at the moment. Picked up some Eastwood Extreme Chassis Black but the weather has NOT been cooperating to paint outside. Hopefully this week I can wipe it down and throw some paint on it!

Also picked up a stock 9" center. Not exactly sure what it's out of, but it has a 31 spline posi and 4.10's. I plan on yanking those 4.10s out and selling them and replacing with some Motive 3.89s. The shop that has my car will be rebuilding the center. This picture is of it before I hosed it down with penetrator (I had a can of some really old penetrator oil and it made all the crap on this center melt off) and peeled off all the grease and grime. It is sitting outside covered up from the elements, awaiting more prep and paint.

I will update with more pics when I go to paint it.

Does the TA mount have the rod end joints or does it come with the solid inserts? This seems like the best deal out there but the thought of a broken TA or TA mount keeps me from going this route.

The TA mount itself has some beefy rod end joints, they are almost the size of my girlfriend's palm. The mounts on the housing itself are solid.

I recently saw another vendor (Trick Chassis) that had an axle and housing package for $1050 as well, but I think theirs is plus shipping whereas mine was $1050 shipped (you get better pricing for calling Bryden direct).

I like the QP set up I just think having two sets of rod ends in my TA set up just won't be good. May have to look into the Trick Chassis one.
