I guess a question to answer your question is what does he plan on doing with the car and M6 or A4? Most commonly the carriers come apart or the ring and pinion strips. I hate to beat a dead horse and please don't take this the wrong way but there's not really any one way to make a 10 bolt stronger, it's just a physically smaller gearset and housing. Yes aftermarket axles, a diff cover with cap braces, ARP wheel studs, and a better carrier (trutrac, etc) will probably help it live longer depending on the intended use; but in time something is gonna break and you will have invested some good $ into it. I know there are road corse guys who have had luck using the 10 bolt but they're using/ applying power differently than drag racers so back to the orignial question!

One of the reasons they fail is because of flex, you can do what was mentioned above and have the axle tubes welded to center section and replace the crush collar with a solid pinion spacer. Being behind a six speed though you will have to stay away from high RPM clutch dumps. It is only a 7.5 ring gear so...

After running my Z for 9 years i can say this much, a 6 speed has no respect for drivetrain parts especially with good tration and a real clutch. I broke 3 3.42 rears and 2 sets of 4.10s mainly the ring and pinion were the casualties hwever i did have 2 carriers EXPLODE my cure for a strong 10-BOLT was to modify an 8.8 rear end ,hey its still a 10-bolt.... No matter what you do to a 7.5/7.625 10-bolt it is going to break behind an M6....... Total cost on my 8.8 start to finish was 1200.00 ready to bolt in. It can be done for less if you retain factory FORD parts in this case you can do it for 600.00

Hell after you upgrade the diff axels and a girdle you will be at almost a grand depending on what brand and wherever you buy them , you mise well wait for a used 9 inch , 12 bolt or a s60 to pop up.

Quick Performance sells the entire 9" housing with Moser axles and TA mount for $999. I've picked up center sections from our local JY for $50. Speedway Motors are cheap for gears and bearings and you can pick up a good used Detroit for around $200 if you look hard enough.

Here's a 2-part article from High Performance Pontiac magazine on upgrading the 10-bolt. By the time you get to the end of the article, they have spent something like $1,700 (ughhh) on the 10-bolt, and recommend it for up to 425rwHP with an A4, and basically not at all w/ an M6. They are starting with an LS1 with the Torsen diff, but that's one of the first things they ditch. The upgrade is an Eaton posi.
