Anyone have any experience with this fluid for 60e/80e trans use with lock up?

Curious also. Lot of people on YB use it.

Only use Dexron III/ Mercon (Dex III) in either a 4L60E or 4L80E. No synthetics and no additives.

Its not a synthetic...
From what we've found over the years, there's not a huge difference in transmission fluid brands. Unless of course you look for really cheap stuff that is recycled.

It works great in our JD loaders.

My dad always told me the same thing. He flipped out when I wanted to try synthetic lol.
Why is it GM doesn't have any better fluid, just no need for anything better?
JAG- Project FrostFire
No need for any other fluid in them. GM has a new fluid now for the 6 speed automatics.

Most of the high hp(4digit) cars run it. The hyd fluid also makes the converter tighter than with conventional trans fluid. We run type f in our th400.

I only ask cause I gotta yank the pan off my 80e and wondered if this was a worthy fluid to run in a DD.

Don't change fluid types unless you're starting with a clean trans.

Negative, part of what he said below.

However, Jake did say it was fine to switch, but I did not want to risk it.

A friend of mine runs Hy-gard in all his automatic transmission cars (DSM, Jeep, BMW) and he has DDed all of them. He swears by the stuff and has been trying to convince me to switch to Hy-gard this year but I am unsure like you, SNM. The price of the stuff is what really turns me on as it's extremely cheap. I am currently running Type-F in my 4L60E without issues so I'm hesitant to give it a try. I've debated draining the pan and pouring in Hy-gard, this would be roughly a 50/50 mix. I have read stories where people have lost the 3-4 clutch pack after switching. I guess don't try to fix what isn't broken?

Pretty much, for me, it would allow for a slight change to converter characteristics but for now, I need my car consistent before I mess with things. The added heat protection and what not is a bonus though.

I might try it in the fall... I'll be going to the super heavy slow truck trans this winter any ways.

I already bolted in a Ford part in the rear end so that made me lose at least 300 rwhp right there... Might as well lose 250 more to make negative whorse powahz!

Any noticeable differences performance, temp, etc?

Had to drain both the GTP and the T/A today... 12 qts of transmission fluid. Welp, I'm doing Hy-gard... Put it in both the GTP and the T/A.
The GTP now shifts very smooth. It used to shudder really bad on the 1-2 shift but now it's smooth and snappy. That is very promising. I haven't driven the T/A with it yet but I'm about to at Woodward, so it will get a good test. My trans temp has reached 180* in traffic / stop lights. I'm interested to see if my trans temp will drop or not. Basically I'm running 50/50 in both cars... Probably more Hy-Gard in the GTP since it takes 7 qts on a drain. Wish me luck!

Both still working.
Wife is driving the GTP a lot today for her job... She hasn't called me yet *knock on wood*

I should note that it was 90* and humid today and I had to stop for traffic down town Pontiac. The trans temp never touched 180* and it used to tip over 180* before even at 70* with straight F-type. I might go into a deeper mix of Hy-Gard in the T/A if it continues to play nice this week.
PS
GTP made it!

Guess i never posted my feedback. Ive been running the hygaurd in my car and so far so good! Im a fmvb th-350 but it shifts fast and smooth when i tell it too. Its better than what i originally had in it.

Yeah... From what I've read the old transmissions love the stuff. When it comes to the 4L60E or 4L80E I hear mixed reviews or people give you crazy looks when you mention it.
Update on the T/A... I got stuck in traffic so I did see 190* today, but it still shifted smooth. Usually when it saw these temperatures it would shift sporadically be it slam shifting, clunking or softly. Now it's quick and smooth as usual. Once moving again and getting air into the cooler it dropped back down to 170* quickly. I beat the piss out of it today out on Woodward. Picked a fight with a Viper SRT10 ACR and we did a first gear to third gear and a second to third gear roll back to back. Transmission shifted on the spot every time and the temps never hit 180*. Normally the F-type would hit 190* at that point.
The GTP is also working smoothly... Still no signs of shudders or slam shifts.
No loss of the 2-3 clutch pack on the 4L60E like some claimed. I'm still sold.

T/A and GTP still working. Even drove the GTP 8 hours last Wednesday without a problem.
