Hopefully this is in the right spot.....so I done a search and haven't really found what I'm looking for. I was wondering at what point I should start worrying for my feet. My car doesn't make a ton of power and so far with the issues I've had the best pass I've managed is 7.5 1/8th with a 1.71 60 n/a. Just looking for some input guys, thanks in advance.

7.50 in the 1/8.... your making decent power. IMO, you should be running an SFI bell housing. This is to protect you and anyone standing around the starting line when it let's go. If your running slicks and dumping on the start it only makes it worse...... SAFETY!!

^^^X2 what he said. To answer your question though I think I was going high 11's when I switched.

I would look at upgrading as soon as I put sticky tires on the car...similar to adding a driveshaft loop

Thanks for the answers guys. I'm Just starting on working the bugs out and am still trying to figure out what all I need. Looks like its about that time! Just for reference the car on a local mustang dyno put down 405 rwhp 375 rwtq (I have no way to upload the graph), the peak hp was at 5700.....car was having issues above that.

what kinda prices are you looking at for a bellhousing? and what other things should someone be looking at for safety?

I think the only SFI bellhousing for us is the McLeod and it's something around $500. Ask Taner if it's worth it though.

Edit: Here is the McLeod http://www.summitracing.com/parts/mcl-8760-00/applications/make/chevrolet and the Quick Time http://lakewoodindustries.com/drivetrain/bellhousings/chevysb-bb-lt1tot56-chevy-lt1.html

Nice to know there's a couple of options, but seriously, do they need to be THAT expensive? I think $250-300 would be reasonable, but $450-550 prices a lot of people out of the purchase.

always look into running a blanket as well. think they range in the 100-300 area.

I hear you. I bought mine right when McLeod started to make them. I have one of the first 10 built and I paid over $600. But, at that time there were no other options.

take a look in the sales section, IIRC casey20000007 (http://ltxtech.com/forums/member.php?4691-casey20000007) is selling a Mcloed.

Hard to get a blanket around the bell housing, there's not much clearance! Even though guys have used blankets in the past a blanket will only pass tech if an SFI bell is not commercially available since there are SFI bells for these cars a blanket won't pass.

My legs/feet are worth more than $500 for some piece of mind. I gambled for a while with the stock bellhousing with my power level and while these failures can be rare, it didn't make sense to be "cheap" when I have already spent a pretty penny everywhere else. The McLeod went on pretty smoothly so I would recommend it.

a Mcloed bellhousing was the first thing i tracked down when i decided i was going to switch to a t56. Personally, i like where my feet are currently located and would like them to stay there....

Thanks for the info guys, and i agree I like my feet where they are! Also agree that with ~20k in a car one shouldn't cheap out on one important piece. Looks like that should be my next upgrade.
