I was putting my transmission in reverse with the car at idle and I could feel it didnt really wanna engage all the way in gear, so I let the car roll and it still didn't help I let out on the clutch and it started moving in reverse but when I let off the throttle and pushed the clutch in it mad a really loud ROAR and stopped itself like it was enguaging foward and reverse at the same time?

It did it a couple more times but just made a ROAR and only when I pushed the clutch in.

It also feels notchy on some shifts but I took it down the road and it hasnt done it in reverse anymore?

I am a die hard believer in sports cars have 3 pedals but i cannot afford to rebuild the T56 and my clutch is shot and needs to replaced also. So im kinda thinking if this is major now would be the time to park it and make it a drag car with a th350.

Any info or opinions would be great, Or maybe a HOW TO on disassembling the T56?

also thought I should add I drove it home and didn't notice anything any different? Maybe I just didn't get it all the way in gear and then got paranoid and starter hearing things?? lol

You'd be surprised what a clutch on its way out will do. Is it popping out of gear or anything funny? Worst case though it probably needs to be gone through. I know in my buddy's we had a hard time getting it in reverse. Found some torn up synchros.

I actually broke down and got a beater to drive even though the firebird was suppose to be the lt1 was for. But anyways I drove it for about a week after it happened and now it's totally fine??? I changed the fluid for good measure and I have been a little rough on it with no problems so I'm kit gonna drive it when I wanna get a little side ways and not worry about it lol.
