so ill start this off to say Frank Cahall) is a good dude. straight up and honest. at the recommendation of a few different members (you know who you are) i contacted frank for a trans for my father inlaw's 94 Z-28. through his suggestions we settled on a "race" spec build with a pro-torque converter. we literally spoke of this through facebook im and used paypal. sent an initial deposit, frank gave me a time frame of about 2 week turnaround. about a week and a half later i get a message that "trans is done when do you wanna come pick it up!" drove down to his location to get the trans, ended up bs'ing for about 2 hours, went over everything that was done to the trans, how to install it properly, torque converter, etc. nice clean case, clearly saw the new pump and tailshaft seals, billet servo.
install was straightforward. had a little bit of chaos with the torque converter to flexplate clearance, called him at 5 on a saturday, and he told me what to do. used his recommended trans cooler, install was easy on that too. its bigger than the b&m im running on my car, but fits nice even with ac. followed his filling procedure so no fluid puked out.
initial impressions: so far got about 40-50 miles on it. feels great overall. shifts firm, not too hard, but havent fully beat on her yet. shifts ARE very quick. he wasnt kidding when he said "watch 1-2 the first few times in the cold or wet". the stall is nice and smooth. od/lockup is perfect, no wierdness going in-between gears, park reverse, etc. everything feels good. for the price you get more than you do from most anyone else, from a guy who knows his stuff when it comes to these transmissions. we look forward to the many miles and many burnouts to come, and dont have fear the trans is gonna leave us high and dry. now to get my trans done by Frank Cahall at Cahall Performance transmission!
