wondering how good my rear end with 3.42 gear stock from the factor will hold up with a rebuilt trans with a 3500 stall and around 440 hp

440HP at the flywheel, or at the rear wheels?

These articles indicate that even with major upgrades, at 450HP with an automatic and sticky tires, its a crap shoot:

Yea a98-02 had a crap carrier were we had a auburn but all I can say is if you leave soft on it it will last got a 10.20 car with a 175 shot and don't spray it till it hits the sixty foot cause ever thing will be loaded and moving just a little easier on part not to much but easier

Iv been 1.53 60' and many 1.5Xs on my stock 10 bolt with 3.42s spraying off the line. That was with a 98-02 rear with the worm gear diff. Urs may or may not hold. Only one way to find out
