After the last time I drove my car I noticed a puddle of gear oil accumulating under the rear end. I figured it was leaking from the cover seal, the pre-load adjusters, or drain plug. I ordered some gm limited slip additive and figured I'd drain, seal, and refill. Last night I jacked it up to inspect further and found this...

It's always something with these cars. I'm guessing it's either due to that cover being Chinese crap or it started when I destroyed the spider gears on a hard launch a couple years ago to slowly spread. Last time I put it on I looked up the specs for the girdle pre-load so I know they aren't over torqued. Wtf haha?

Am I missing something? I see the pic, but what specifically are you trying to show?

Is this one of those 3D puzzles where you have to blur your eyes?

If you are worried just get another one. I have one that's summit brand

Haha, if you look where it's browning out from oil above the LPW it's leaking due to spider cracks. Strange 12-bolt btw

Just pulled the cover off and found this

25079

Spider gear tooth and part of some sort of actuator. Second time I've blown out this strange "super strength" posi. This time on the street on dr's. Time for a truetrac and street tires I guess.

Damn! You must be putting LSX kind of numbers down.

Haha, I wish. I never had a problem until the McLeod street twin clutch. Damn thing grabs so hard, I had always heard a street twin will find the weakness in a drivetrain and I guess it has twice. I also think I need to make some suspension adjustments after reading that thread regarding relo brackets. I'm in the lowest holes.

Yea the first time it broke I looked into truetrac's and found great reviews especially considering the price. Ended up replacing the spider gears and a few other parts in the diff that got mangled.

It's a 33 spline. Can't say I've heard of an S track but will look into it. Thanks for the info

Update: just got her back from a local shop with a new truetrac and gear set installed. The shop owner has been setting up rear ends for many years and is known as one of the best in the area (gears and transmission internals are the two things I don't feel qualified to monkey with).

Since I bought the 12 bolt new from strange it has been LOUD. You could literally hear it riding in a car next to it. I figured it was set up on a Monday morning or Friday afternoon. Anyway, went for the first break in drive this afternoon and it's like a totally different car. You can actually have a conversation at 60 mph with the passenger without yelling. Very happy and good to have her back in the garage!

How much did the truetrac cost you? I'm curious because watching vids of my last time at the track, I noticed I was barely spinning the passenger tire during one burnout. No strange noises, but it stopped once or twice, and I"m thinking WTF. Would like to know because could become an option if I swap to 3.42's at the same time.

It was $469 from summit. Supposedly only works with moser 33 spline axles due to the inside diameter but the installer, who knows his stuff, said it looked fine and would have no qualms about it in his own vehicle. Had to ditch abs though since the carrier would have to be milled for the reluctor ring to fit. The local machine shop was worried about thrashing a bit since the metal is really hard.
