As you all know I broke my rear u-joint at the shoot out, I finally got around to pulling the drive shaft out and cannot get the slip yoke out of the tranny, I tried beating it with a 5lb mallet and it wont budge, I ended up taking the u-joint out just to remove the the drive shaft, Any ideas on how to get this out?, Thanks

Make a puller. 1/2" plate. Drill it to match the yoke holes. Weld a nut in the center for a jack bolt. Use a 5/8 fine thread if you can.

Why'd it get stuck though? Think it twisted the splines or something?

Thats the a good question, I dont know, this is a brand new Viper Tranny with 0 miles only the 3 passes at the track, I am hoping it justs the yoke spun but hell I only launched at around 5000, and Tony and Kyle dont understand also why the 1350 yoke let go. It ended up completely destroying the drive shaft, I will try Big Cats idea, Thanks

No pics yet, it broke the joint at the rear, ended up being those bastard joints, one end a 1350 and the other a regular, When I had the shaft built and installed I thought it had the solid joints, It will now since I am having a new shaft made, Will let you know when I pull the slip yoke out what happened, I am hoping it didnt bent the input shaft but it shouldnt since its a hardened one, but we'll see..

UPDATE: Well I finally got off my lazy @ss and put the car on ramps, I decided to first try using a rivet gun, I used a straight set with a small angle to rest it on the yoke, One blast from the gun and the yoke came right out, I checked the splines in the yoke and shaft and they are perfect, I slid the yoke in and out of the tranny to make sure no splines were damaged and it slid with ease, Why it got stuck, I don't know, and I guess hitting it with the 5lb hammer didn't work because I really could not get a good smack on it laying on the ground, Picked up a new shaft yesterday and will be installing it this weekend..
