I'm thinking of converting my car to run off an LS1 PCM the most budget way possible. I have a 1995 LT1 auto car, and I remember reading something somewhere about an issue with doing this conversion with an auto car? What is the difference? I suspect that you might need to switch the TCC or shift solenoids? I might have access to an 03 truck PCM, LS1 harness, truck coils, and 97 timing cover, as well as an LS1 cam and crank sensor. It seems like the only aftermarket parts I'll need are the 24x reluctor and 1x cam reluctor.

why switch? is there a reason beside being able to have a 2bar map?

I just want to. Coil on plugs, 2bar map, better PCM and tun-ability. I've been tuning with friend on his 99 car with EFI Live and like it way better. I'm getting the car ready for heads and cam and maybe boost :D

Tuning capability should be the #1 reason for anyone.
I understand it's a hardcore LT thing to retain the opti, but why deal with the headache.

guess i've just never had an issue with the opti.
it handled my 6500+ for a long time... longer than the engine handled it lol
i did forget the other reason would be if you wanted to spin it past 7k. but damn that ls1 pcm swap just isnt cheap. its up there with just getting a stand alone system.

I might be able to do it for pretty cheap.

Junkyard parts + being an engineer and making my own reluctors.

Just need info about the trany. Someone on LS1 tech said you need to swap the 2-3 shift solenoid and the harness.

3-2 downshift solenoid is different. Up to 95 it's Pwm and 96 up it's an on off style different ohm rating also. Valve body is different Swap it with a 97 -02 Harness can be made to work. Trim the tabs off the sides of the 3-2 solenoid connector and flip it over.

The cost for most normal humans to do that swap... compared to this swap (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Complete-Stand-Alone-Chevy-6-0-LS-LQ4-Engine-2WD-4L80-Transmission-84K-LSx-/350996290234?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item51b9025aba&vxp=mtr)
