Rear end swap???

Hey guys recently I made contact with someone who has a 96 SS with the upgraded slp axle he is offering a good deal for it but I heard something different channels in reference to the abs system but anyways I own a 93 formula with a auto his a 96 SS with six speed any advise would be great thx

I would't bother. I think the only upgrade in the axle was the posi unit. Too much trouble for what it's going to be worth.

He only wants $250 for it and he says the car only had 73,000 miles mine is almost pushin 175,000 I been very lucky and I thought it would be a lil bit better rear end setup than what I got but most importantly will it work???

Basically the same rear and imo milage on a rear shouldn't matter a lot. 250 isn't a bad price though

really no difference... use that 250 and buy a stud girdle LOL its no stronger than whats in your car now.

I believe that the abs depends on if it had traction control or not and if yours does. If its out of a 6 speed it probably has better gearing. Not sure what year they changed the type of posi. Could compare the slop in each to get a idea on how bad it was beat on.

Gearing would be better. Manuals got the 3.42 with autos rocking 2.73 or 3.23. Except 93, the manuals had different gearing in the trans and rear.

The ol skool way to check ratio is to lift back of car spin tire one revolution and count how many time the driveshaft turns

I don't know I think anytime you can get more gear for cheap do it. GU2 is 2.73, GU5 is 3.23 and GU6 is 3.42.
