Dustin, I think there is a setting in tunercat (or maybe its tuner pro) that you can select and it changes the polarity of the shift solenoid, eliminating the need for a relay. I'll see if I can dig it up.

I don't know if its mentioned in there but I know I seen where there is a new release of the $ee definition file for tunercat that allows the change to take place in the software

It might be in tunerpro also. I wouldn't buy tunercat just for that. I thought you already had it. Just do the relay and that does the same thing.

Does a 4l80e torque converter bolt directly to the lt1 flexplate?

No. If you are using the stock 4l80e converter you will have to convert to the larger 168 tooth flexplate and starter. If using an aftermarket converter, they can be made to bolt to the factory flexplate.

Hell yes they are. Sonofabitch they're heavy. I'd say going with a billet converter you could just about offset the weight gain from a 60e

I wish we could get a 4l80e swap FAQ going. Once the prices of these converters goes down we are going to see a lot of conversions

Would be nice, and a entry level Circle D unit is $500, that is pretty good pricing wise. I wish mine was that cheap.

That is a really good price. Do they make the 80e in a standard SBC pattern? I'm only seeing LS pattern converters...

Sent them a message. If they can make one for then same price to fit the lt1 flexplate that's a winner in my book

Got this back from Chris this morning...
Can this converter be made to fit a standard SBC/LT1 flexplate?
Sadly, I do not think it will fit. The problem is going to be with the pilot, the 278mm has the extended LS pilot length and it will bottom out in your crank before it touches the flexplate. So to get a 3000 stall range you will need to step up to a Pro Series Converter where we can use a billet front with the standard GM pilot length.

Its an $850-$900 converter, with the features it comes with its still a decent price. I believe I'm going to have to run a stock unit myself until I can decide if I like its highway manners before spending that much. Maybe I can blow through the stocker and get it to stall a little higher :p

Edge Racing built mine to spec and to mate to a stock LT1 flywheel for $525. Look at the differce between stock and aftermarket TC. http://i1218.photobucket.com/albums/dd419/Mystery_Bird/Firebird%20Project/20130330_140816_zpsa5b793bb.jpg

Now we're talking. Just sent them a message. I know this isn't my thread but maybe we can combine a few of these threads together and make a nice guide out of it for future use. I like edges cut and clean program. $90 a year keeps the warranty up. Can't beat that

I've run nothing but Edge converters over the years in this car and have had nothing but great results. Andre is also a great guy to deal with. He told me that if I ever have a problem with a converter even if it's ten years from now he wants to know about it and will help make it right.

Hey mystery Bird are you spraying nitrous on your car. I am in the market for an 4l80e converter. And wanted to no if that edge was standing up behind a nitrous setup.

His car is NA as far as I know. Unless he is being sneaky.

I am NA but I might get a little sneaky later on down the road. My converter is too loose to run nitrous unless I locked it. I was told is has the proper clutches for WOT lockup though.
