Hey guys so I'm looking into getting some gears on a A4... I have 3.23 in there right now.. And I was looking at eaither 3.73 or 3.89 my Carrier is a 3 series so I just wanted some insight on who is running what gear and also what brand and install kit should I get I heard Richmond and motive are good

I have 3.73 with Eaton in a 10 bolt. Fun with the 6 SPD. I was 3.23. I ran a 12.88 with the new rear... but I hurt it... back to the 3.23 for a while

Usually, rule of thumb is 3.73's for auto, 4.10's for 6spd. They'll also last a lot longer behind the auto. 6spd's are hell on rears if you don't treat er' right.

I have the m29 t56 so the 3.73 was a good compromise so1st gear would still be usable. 3.90 is about as big as i would go with a m29 t56 6 speed and yeah, 6 speed beats up even "strengthened" rears.. LOL
Since OP has an A4 3.90 would be fine compromise for "spirited" driving. FWIW my gears are Richmonds..

I am running 3.73's in a Ford 8.8 posi. A4. Ran a best of 12.92 so far with some decent wheel-hop off the line.

I am running 3.90 gears in my bolt-on only car. With a 26" tire it runs well at the track.

Any one else have any more info about the 3.90's cause I'm going back and forth from 3.90 to 3.73 leaning more towards the 3.90's my car is stock suspeion.. I been reading some forums and from what I seen the 3.90's will need some suspeion to stop the wheel hop

When mine was a bolt-on stalled A4 with a 3.73 my best was a 12.9x at 104.5mph. If you don't plan on spraying and aren't worried about a few hundred higher rpm on the highway I think 3.90 is a great option. When I was spraying a 175 shot on the stock motor (with 3.73's) it would top 3rd gear before the end of the 1/4 on 17" nitto DR's on ZR1's, coasting to 11.6x's. These times were before the cam, blower, t56 swap, 12 bolt, etc

Do you have a stall yet? If your stock suspension I recommend subframe connectors, LCA's and relo brackets to plant the rear. I always remove the front swaybar for track trips too.

If its your DD I'd go 3.73, good track performance without too high of rpms on the highway. I ran gm motive gears in my 7.5 and have motive 3.73's in my 12 bolt.

Hey just wondering with 3.90's would I bounce the Rev at the quarter mile it bounces the rev at 6400 or I wouldn't even be close to hitting it.. I really can't find anyone running the 3.90 gear and since I have to wait until Monday to actually place a order I just wanna get as much info as I can about the 3.90 and also I'm running a 245 50 16. Nitto 555r drag radials.. Sorry guys for so manny post I'm the kinda person that likes to do alot of research in everything.. And I'm also new to lt1 cars Im only 18 and had my car for a year

You would be fine in the 1/4 with a 3.90 gear as I'm guessing your car is trapping 105-106 mph.

Ya it was trapping at 105 with the 3.232 gear.. Where does the rpm go after you shift at 6200 cause I was looking at my dyno chart lastnight and my Max Tq came in at 4500. Rpm

You will love either 3.73 or 3.90 seat of the pants you will not notice the difference and as for the 1/4 mile difference is so small...can't go wrong.

My car does not hit the limiter at the traps with 3.90 gears and a 26" tire. It traps 105-106 N/A but I would have to check what it traps on the 150 shot. I would have to check, but I believe my limit is set at around 6500.

If you have the ability, get the axle tubes welded to the center section.
