Ok with the new engine build. I will need to upgrade the system. 24X setup is out because i want a better system. And retain the opti. The distributor can handle it. The pcm can't.

Ive been looking at:
Fast
Big3
And some others

What in your educated opinion is the best?

How high will you be spinning? How hands are you? I like the endless add on capability of the megasquirt system, not to mention the price. Only downside, and reason I sold my first one, no tuners in my area know anything about them. While I'm not uncomfortable fine tuning my setup, I was reluctant to write the whole tune from scratch. You can buy them built to order, or as a diy kit, but its not for the faint of heart.

7,500 at minimum. Im pretty hands on. But will need a well experienced tuner on this. I will be pushing the engine to the edge. And want someone besides me doing it. lol

I looked at the magasquirt system. And liked it but like you said. Im worried about who can tune it.

how do you plan on controlling the body harness? i'm pretty sure the bs3 on a friends car only controls the engine. i don't know about fast xfi, alot of lt1 guys run it though... i've seen alot of guys running the new holley efi..

I know fast/accel can be spliced in. And ive found little info on big3(just know its a good system)

So Im looking into input from others on this. Hoping some got some info on these.

Something that can datalog a ton, interface with a really good boost controller, and record chassis movement during runs.

200mph goals and a optispark really seem counterproductive, really would discourage that option IMO. You are not in the cheap LT1 land anymore if you really wanna hit 200mph...

VIVA LE OPTI!

In all seriousness, you would really trust a opti at 200mph?

Maybe its just me, but I would not want to lose any sort of part of the drivetrain at such speeds, could be catastrophic if it leads to an overboost/lean spike etc. With the current market options for replacements for optis, I just would be very hesitant to use one when you can just as easily run a non moving cam sensor.

Its not about saving cash. The opti has more then proven it self at these rpm's. And there are aftermarket ones. That are much stronger then the GM ones.

I've trusted an opti to drive me hundreds of miles from home, there are guys running them ~150mph with no problems. What's not to trust?

I agree. Its just like any other distributor out there. In over a decade and almost 160,000 of owning a LT1. I have never had a opti fail.

It is more then up to the task of getting me to 200 mph and 7500+ rpm

Plus being able to say. i went 200mph with a LT1 that still had a opti. Will be huge braging rights. Hard for a LS guy to dog a 20+ year old engine w/opti that goes that fast.

Honestly... I would.

Lets be honest... Catastrophic failure from an opti at 200 is gonna be just the same as at 140 in the quarter.

I dont understand how opti failure would cause "overboosting" tho.

I run FAST XFI and love it but I hear good things about the Holley.
