Good find!

Makes you wonder how many still in cars are leaking and people assume the rear main.

yea... im not sure what the actuall part name I called the few auto stores that were open at the time I found it and it was like talking to a brick wall if you don't know what a camshaft is you shouldn't work there.....an 8 year old could do a better job anyways lol, i guess the only way that store sells it is in a whole gasket set for 50 bucks. im going to call a chevy dealer tomorrow hoping they have just the seal i need for a bit less. lol

Maybe some gasket paper and cut your own, instead of spending $50 on a whole kit?

ill call chevy tomorrow but if I have to o have too. I have gaskey paper but the gasket has metal gromets in it for some reason I don't want to take the chance its too much to take back apart lol

Just weld the plate back on, LOL!

Definitely too much to take back apart over buying a gasket kit.

Well while its apart... Look at everything...ie the intake seal etc... Not that i think u didnt find it... But... While ur there...just make sure.

I had a 95 before...that was rebuilt... WE did seal after seal.. Pulling the trans...unable to find the leak... Turns out whem they turned the crank...the tiniest marks were left in the end and the oil snuck thru at higher rpm... Easy fix with a thin sleeve made just for that... But. It took alot of trial and error.

me either i guess there is, its pointless i think its not like you can pull it out the back unless you pull the motor

The 5.9 Cummins engine has a similar setup. A trans adapter bolts to the back of the engine that incorporates an oring cam seal. I found that out the hard way too.
