the LS7 is a 427 SBC, i think there is also a 454 LSx that's a SB.

i think there is some on on here that took an LTx to a 416 or 418 something like that.

I also was expecting the racing to be alot better. I would have thought at least one of the out of town cars would have made a good pass. Lutz's shoe box should have ate the Sonoma up but I guess that what happends when you put a track car on the street.

Bore spacing is all that determines whether its a small or big block. They had small 360" big blocks all the way to 900" 5.4" bore spacing motors.

I like that 700 inch Fulton motor that one guy has. He can't seem to hook it though lol

Ahh, didn't know if you had heard that part. That was the season finale and I haven't seen this supposed Chicago trip were they get their assed drug....

I know a few weeks in a row it was the exact same road, and you could see what looked like a regular 1/4 mile track in the background.

There has to be staging of somewhat, and anybody who say different is a liar. You can't block that much of any road for that long and have nobody drive by. Plus the time to set up lightplants all over the place and then break them back down?!?!

If it was entirely staged, I still don't care. It's the only racing I get to watch! :D

From my customers that are around the area and a cpl show up on the show in the back ground on most episodes, here is the scoop.

The racing is real, as in " they are actually racing, betting $$$, winner is not predetermined, etc".

The racing site is staged. Ambulance just out of camera view, police blocked off the roads to keep others away from "the set".

Most of these races where every one shows up and races for a spot take place for 4-8 hours. No worry of police showing up, they are already there, LOL.

There is a big tent or area set up where people go get coffee, donuts, snacks (probably common on any "movie set").

They want exrtra drama from people talking smack and arguing but some of the guys don get pissed or are asshole/jerks with big mounths and the anger is sometimes real.

Most test hits are actually real, some are on blocked off roads.

The scenes where the cops show up and catch them doing test hits are staged - at least 2 were that I know of and maybe all of them.


It is a "reality TV show" but if they did not spice it up some it would be boring for most people, would have the ratings from people talking about it, people taking sides (who they like, who they hate, etc) and the show would probably not have been made at all or cancelled shortly there after.


If you are into cars and racing, this show kinda wins by default and you are probably gonna watch it even though it has its problems. Same for Fast N Furious, Pinks, etc, etc. There are not many shows where you can see cars, racing, etc so most reading this are just like me and have it set to record every week.

Not sure where he lives but it "looks like" Chief, Shawn and Lutz are all involved in that shop in some way. Not sure if they do all equal amounts of work, if Lutz is the $$$ guy or brings in the high end customers (although I am sure that this show is bringing in TONS of clients), etc. If I had to guess I would say that Shawn and Chief brought Lutz in to help work on serious race cars and is just hired by them/the shop . . . . but that is clearly a guess.

Since episode 1 of first season until now there had been a HUGE increase in the subtle advertising on the show as in banners hanging in shops, shop names across top of wind shields, matching T shirts, etc.

Looks like they are all making $$$ or at least taking care of the people that have sponsored them by advertising them.

I lost a lot of respect for some of the guys on the show when they came to st.Louis to race... they came here to RACE, and one of the local guys who after multiple call outs on yellowbullet and pretty much being ignored, showed up at the hotel where some of the guys were staying with both of his cars loaded on his trailer looking for a money race...they completely blew him off, said "maybe after we race the Chicago guys if there is time"

Are you kidding me? If you come here to race and not race when someone comes directly to you, you are a coward...it doesn't matter if you would have won or lost, just give him the race.

Exactly...because if they grenade their car or get busted not only do they lose the cash for the illegal cadh race...they can lose their cars...their licenses...and not be on the show anymore...and that show is a sponsor $$$$ jackpot which shows with the new shirts everyone keeps wearing with business names on them. Got back on the list cause of a technicality Vs. Dustin in the BBC 4th gen and acted like a giant prick. Kamikaze in Flip's Elco busted his ass and kicked him off the list again.

Good season finale IMO. The first wreck was scary but nice to see she wasn't hurt. I'm amazed Daddy Dave could smack a curb and keep that damn car together. Looks like a lot of guys "cranked up" their cars which resulted in a spin fest. I think Varleys car needs to just go away.

I can't stand Varley's team for just that point...They turned me off after the Dustin race. Dustin was like good race, you got me but I got you next time and the new dickhead was wanting to fight. They should take a page outta Andrade's book...Win or lose, he shakes hands and has no excuses.

Season 4 has been done filming for a few months and season 5 is well under way filming. No date for season 4 but mid-december probably. The Cutty just had the first drive on the new setup. Did you see the runs from last weekend no prep race? Monza almost put the split bumper into the wall avoiding Hellanor's wreck and Big Baller Coupe (season 4) rolled his car like 10 times after a throttle stick.
