Been thinkin about getting a converter. My car is a dead dog off the line. Would I be better off starting with a converter then going to nitrous or starting with nitrous. I would think the nitrous would keep my driveable as I wouldnt have a large stall.

Any other modifications? If it's just a bolt on car, I'd definitely go with the stall.

Most of the bolt ons and free mods done to the engine. Has tubular tq arm, lc arms and panhard. Has lost ALOT of weight. Got some extra money to spend this weekend and lookin at either nos or a converter. Do have future plans for an engine rebuild with stock ported intake and heads with a good cam so looking to just put either the FTI 3000 or 3200 stall in it

If I were you I'd get the stall and a good set of tires. Drivability with the stall won't be as bad as you think. If any one you know has a stalled car, ask for a ride or a test drive. I'm kind of a noob on the whole nitrous thing, so I'm not the best person to ask, ...but if you're running the stock stall and shoot nitrous, there's a good chance you're going to balloon the converter and create a lot of problems. Extended cost with nitrous will also be higher (plugs, TUNING, hardware, refills, etc...) Just my 2 cents.

I agree with you on the extended use of nos. I rod in slickwills car which is stalled and its not bad at all. Ithink I am gonna do the 12" stall which is 2400 but ill call and see if FTI cant do a 12" in a 2600 or maybe a 2800 stall. Ill play with the nos SOON tho lol

Why cheap out on something you will regret when you have to replace it later on?

Get a quality converter and enjoy it. I ran a circle D 4000 in my last setup, drove great round town, and when I sold it, the guy had Circle D do a free re-stall, so that was a valid investment. I am currently running a 3400 FTI converter, and again, daily driver (or it will be eventually). A quality 'verter will last and be able to grow with your car, and or not cook the shit out of your transmission.

You'll be able to ride in a nitrous and stalled car very soon ;)

If you hold off on nitrous we can see how my car handles it.

Also, this is the Z.E.X. kit I texted you about last night:http://orlando.craigslist.org/pts/3706205335.html

My .02 is I am installing N20 now and had a Yank pt 4000 and re-stalled to a ss 3600 since the PT can not do N20. That being said, go TC and make sure it can be used with N20 and if you want to add N20 down the road, you will not have to mess around as much as I did.

I know people who have lost quite a bit of time on their ET's with ONLY changing the torque converter. That said, I'd get something over 3000... I honestly think getting a TC under 3000 is just a waste of money. I've got a 9.5" 3600 stall from a guy who used to custom make them in my area... it has made driving an automatic so much more fun.

I agree with messien anything less than 3000 is a waste. A good quality converter can be setup to drive like stock under most conditions.

I don't believe your right, seeing as a heavier, less bolt ons car is running 5 tenths quicker.

I have no idea why your car is faster Will lol. My car is way lighter with more power and im SLOWER! I think any kid of converter would make the car faster. Just dont know if bigger is better for a stock 4l60e and a stock rear end right now. I think anything from 2600-3000 would be plenty but I am not completely sure. I know ill need bigger tires as I already have a godo amout of tire spin off the line

Its the magic of God, your car feels much faster. Just hasn't proved it yet. You can drive my car and see if you feel the difference with mine.
