99% sure that I am getting my 94 z28 auto hardtop car back! little story: i bought the car with 189,000 miles for $2500 bucks a little over a year ago. people stayed away from it due to the mileage, but the guy took good care of it and daily drove it up and down the nj turnpike, so i wasnt too concerned. drove like a dream. it had small mods done like edelbrock shorties, flowcrapster exhaust, k&n intake, vortec elbow, rather large trans cooler, ls1 front brakes, msd billet opti, ss wheels, and hotchkis springs. i immediately did a tune up, new alternator, changed all vacuum lines, new fuel filter, and coolant flush. shortly thereafter, deleted all emissions and i tuned it myself using tunercat and datamaster on a friends dyno. she put down just around 300 whp. not bad! motor was tight. fun all summer!

fast forward to a couple of months ago: found out another baby on way, and got layed off at same time. sold car thinking i cant have it anymore due to the circumstances couldnt afford premium gas, insurance, etc. well the kid called me the other day and said he's joining the military, and his parents dont want the car sitting there while he is gone, so he wants to sell it back. for a little bit of cash when my taxes come (hopefully asap) i should have my baby back. only damage from him is some stupid stickers, and the passenger side header finally cracked with age. i will be putting on pacesetter lt's, y and a slp lm2 for now, along with a couple new parts and new rear tires to freshen it up. i drove it today, and it still does rolling burnouts if you romp on it at 35, and runs pretty much the same as before. i want my other wife back now!

thanks guys! i really am like a little kid right now hah. she had only a bath in that pic, no wax. that was the last nice day in fall. i was so scared when i took it for a ride that it was gonna have all kinds of suspension noise and this and that was gonna be broken, expected it to break up at high rpms, etc. but it didnt. ill be in shock and these days are gonna be long as hell until its back in my driveway. one little thing i noticed is wrong: the door skin on the drivers side is peeling away from the inner bracing by the back of the door. looks like gm just epoxied these with something? hopefully i can figure out something to use to hold it together.

Most two part epoxies should be able to re bond them. We did a few at the shop with some rags and clamps till curing and it worked great. Cant remember if it was a specific epoxy tho...

3M part # 8115 panel bond adhesive works great on bonding the panel back to the shell of the door. If its at the front side of the door it makes it easier to unbolt the door from the car and repair it.

its at the back of the door right by the handle, that seam. ill try a 2 part epoxy first, thanks for the tips.

shes home now. where she belongs. going to pick up parts from a fellow njfboa.org member tomorrow (pacesetters, y pipe, hooker aerochamber exhaust, gauge cluster) and then a new starter, mr gasket copper header gaskets, new motor mounts, and 02 extensions. hoping to have it done in the next couple of days, and then drive the hell out of it

thanks man! even with the passenger side shorty leaking right at the collector and my wife being extremely irritated from it, i missed driving it so much. going from a 350whp 2wd bench seat pickup truck (5speed too) back to my baby is a welcome change. my spine doesnt hurt driving to the grocery store.

Haha man I bet! Every time I get in a truck, my back hurts after about a 30 minute trip. I love my bucket seats :D

i have the door clamped up currently, gonna let it sit overnite. i just used some heavy duty 2 part epoxy as i am picking up a new door this weekend along with a ss spoiler. i got the headers installed. passenger from the bottom, driver from the top. wasnt bad at all. took 4 hours to take the old edelbrock crap off and do all the prep removal (alt, plugs, intake, valvecover, etc, and put the pacesetters on. i gotta try to knock the y pipe on more on the drivers side as the clearance indent is still hitting a little bit. then i have to rig up hangars for the slp loudmouth i got. was supposed to get a hooker aerochamber, but thats a long story.

dude ive been soo knee deep into this, i honestly only took a few pics. ill upload them later today. i just got done getting everything finished up. starter back in, alt, finished up rattletastic y pipe and exhaust (temporary summit 18" 3" glasspack dumped for now), neatened up things and such. started it, massive gasket leaks. i torqued all the bolts to spec doing the two pass method. even at spec some of the stage 8 hex heads for a wrench were stripping off. both sides leaked right at the middle two primaries. i pulled the gaskets, mr gasket 7154 copper with the o rings, which i thought wouldnt do this out and saw that the header port and head port were somehow riding just above the o ring. tried reseating them to no avail the second time, just busted knuckles. since i need to drive it tomorrow i tried a set of percys deadsoft square ports i had laying around for the nova, and now only the passenger side #5 primary leaks at the head. i need good gaskets, help!
