You don't really need a "lock up kit" for the transmission. What year is the trans you put in it? All 700s have pressure switches on the valve body. Some have more than others, but all have a switch in the 4th gear circuit. If you simply run a 12 volt wire to your "A" terminal into the trans, you put a 2 terminal NORMALLY OPEN switch in that hole and run the 12 volts from the case connector to one side and the wire to the solenoid from the other side. If your solenoid is a 2 wire type, you can run the ground wire to the case connector and wire it through a brake switch. A brake light switch will make it come out of lock up whenever the brake is pushed. Any auto parts store should have one for your year truck with an auto, as long as it's a 1979 or later. Most already have a hole to mount one under the dash.
With this set up, you will only have lock up in 4th gear. I wire all my transplant 700s this way. I'll try to find you a diagram of all this when I get a minute today.
Depending on your overall final gear ratio, you have to have lock up engaged while in 4th gear with a 700. If not, it will cause the converter sprag to unlock, which causes excessive heat. That heat will destroy the trans.

Dont mean to hijack this but want to ask you Frank a quick question about my trans in my 06 Avalanche. I think because the truck is lowered that the driveline may be pushing up too far inside of the trans when the truck bottoms out and want to know if this could take out the trans because its only got 60k on it and now needs what will be its 3rd trans. I can find no other reason other than that because I bought a trans from Monster trans and its lasted less than 9k and we havent even towed anything with it and its supposed to be a built 4l65e to handle 500 hp and tow up to 15k. So am I on to something or not?

You kinda answered your own question. "You bought a trans from Monster. While I usually don't like to bash other builders work, I also don't like seeing people pay so much and get so little. Monsters transmissions leave alot to be desired. They use inadequate parts and build procedures. I've rebuilt MANY of their transmissions that have had as little as 500 miles on them. Your Avalanche is a 4X4, which means it has a transfer case. Driveline angle isn't going to affect anything in the transmission. When you say it keeps "failing", what exactly keeps happening to it?

Sorry I should have stated that its a 2WD and I thought I was getting a really great trans for 2k. The truck has no codes in it and will go in to 1st, slips into 2nd but no 3rd or od even shifting thru manually. The stock trans made a screeching noise and did pretty much the same thing. I flushed the cooler lines with air and a/c flush the same way I did back when I worked for GM and used synthetic trans fluid in it and never ran it low. I am finding out now about Monster and really regret buying one but like I said I wanted to replace the old one with something that would last. I contacted them and they will replace mine but I have to pay the 450 for freight both ways and I asked if I or a shop could open it up and see what broke and they said it would void my warranty and I do understand that but then again if they used crap parts in it then I will never know.

It sounds like the 3-4 clutches are wasted and most likely the 2-4 band. If drivetrain angle would have any effect on a 2WD, it would tear up hard parts, not burn clutches up. This sounds like what I've seen so many times... Monster pays alot for advertising, and donates transmissions to shows on TV. What they spend in marketing I'd rather put into the transmissions I build and give the customer a better product.

I was thinking that maybe because the driveline was being shoved in to the trans maybe its breaking it up inside?
Since I am tied up with them I dont have a choice but to go with another one but if I can get my money back would you be interested in building one for me?

Of course. What year Avalanche is it? Anything special done to the engine?

qwV hot from case connector terminal "A" to 1 prong on 2 prong NORMALLY OPEN 4th pressure switch. From other prong of switch to TCC solenoid. Wire ground direct from case connector terminal "D" to solenoid. Wire vehicle with 12V battery power direct the termial 'A", through a 20 AMP fuse to terminal "A" of case connector. Wire ground through brake switch to terminal "D" of case connector.

Performance build would work great in that. Shipping would run $150 each way. http://cahallperformancetrans.com/uploads/Performance.jpg

and how is it that Franks is 150 bucks cheaper on shipping alone. But that is a good deal on tranny rebuild! Hope you get your money back on that whole ordeal Madman......sounds like they are taking people to the cleaners. It would be almost worth it to open it up to see if they put in what they said they would.

monster is kind of the reason I am glad I built my own trans...... and wasnt gonna pay those outragious prices that some people charge and hearing of nightmares about them years later now.

Yeah that is a great price allright and I did research monster to see what others said and at the time it was mostly good. I could build a trans myself but lack the tools to do so and I am still trying to wrap my head around why it failed so easy even if all they used was stock stuff it still should have held up better than it did and yeah I hear ya about it almost being worth it to open it up.
