So I have Winflash for my 96 Trans Am swapped to a 94 LT1 PCM, and I can't get WinFlash to communicate with my PCM. I have an OBD2 16 to serial (DB9) that I was first using which worked in conjunction with my ELM 327 to USB when I had OBD2, First I figured I could skip just plug the serial port in to the back of an old laptop (which had a com port on it) but WinFlash wouldn't read it. So I went down to O'Riellys and borrowed their OBD1 (12 pin) scanner. The OBD1 cable is disconnectable from the scanner and plugged into the parallel port on my laptop. Again cable error.I did the xray cable from shbox's site:

Still no anvil. I'm running a fresh copy of Windows XP SP3. Is there something else I need to configure? Also what is the "communications delay time" in WinFlash for and is it supposed to be set to something?

Did you install the driver for the ELM 327 to USB?. Also, does the check engine light come on, do the fans stay on continuously. You may want to download Free Scan and see if you can read any ECM data eliminating Winflash as the problem.

ELM 327 is for OBDII, I'm running OBDI.

When I start the car, the fans stay on and the check engine light is on, but again its flashed for an auto when I have a T56

Sounds like a bad flash, I am fighting the same problem. I even tried another ecm, tried to flash it, same problem.

I don't think so, the car does start. I ordered the correct cable, we shall see
