So anyways i'm new here. I made an intro thread in the introduction section. But somehow my post got lost or was too large that was about my cars. So i thought it would be better to just continue on and make a thread about the car in a proper section for the car. So here it is....

Its a 96 Firehawk that was sold new in Baltimore MD. Its car #48, but SLP messed up on the #'s in 96 so it's probably car #34 made. Rundown on it's options http://www.firehawkowners.com/car/4046.html
I bought this Firehawk pretty much 3 years ago. It was sinking into a guys front yard with a locked up engine. It got hot one day and someone desided to put cold water in it and warped the heads then let it sit for a year, this is what i found when i pulled the top end off...

http://www.r3vlimited.com/gallery/files/1/2/5/3/7/img_1487.jpg

here's what the out side looked like, the chrome Firehawk wheels was toast.
http://www.r3vlimited.com/gallery/files/1/2/5/3/7/firehawk.jpg

So moving on, i desided to do a stoker in it. Got a Eagle cast kit, and these other mods,
stock heads with port work
CC306 cam
Comp Cam chromemoly, heat-treated, 5/16" pushrods
Jet Hot LT headers
3" Dynomax bullet mufflers
58mm BBK Throttle body
egr/smog delete
Ford Racing 30# injectors
1.5 Roller rockers
Meziere electric water pump
LT4 clutch with McLead clutch disc
4.10 gears
Ebay C5 vette wheels 17x9.5 front, 18x10.5 rear
Tires: Front 275/45/17 Rear 296/35/18

Sorry for dirty picture, was when i was putting it all together
13432

But the crank didn't last long

http://www.r3vlimited.com/gallery/files/1/2/5/3/7/picture_037_212341.jpg

So i went with a Scat crank this time, and 12,000miles later, it's still alive!

This is my 2nd LT1 car i've ever owned, i'll toss the other one up in another post here so this post isn't 500miles long.

The Eagle cast crank i say lasted 3,000 maybe... And i've had a few others tell me theirs broke pretty much in the same place.

Here's the other LT1 f body i had. Actually it was my first one. Cause truthfully, i hated these cars when they came out! But my buddy had a 97 Camaro Z28 and i couldn't help to wonder and kept asking him about his. So i found myself buying this 96 Formula.

When i bought it, the only mods it had was a Hooker cat back, 160 t-stat, skip shift, and switch for the fan. (yes that was my 85 GN at the time too)

Then i got my hands on it, i put a SLP CAI, 1.6 RR, 58mm TB, Pacesetter LT headers, ORY. Then later i put a WS6 hood on it from Suncoast (fit like crap) with a stock Ram Air airbox and a set of C4 ZR1 wheels (gunmetal with polished lip)

I don't know why i ended up selling it, but i did... Then a few years later i bought my Firehawk. At the time i wasn't even looking for another car. But my dad told me about it, and after i found out it was real. I grabbed it up!!!

The Formula looked great too, sad you sold it.. did you put the ram air intake on it too? How do you feel the difference in performance between the 2?

Yes i did the ram air intake also. Truthfully, my butt dyno couldn't tell the differance between it and the SLP CAI. But the car did seem to have more get up and go when i went from the stock air intake to the SLP.

Well that's good to know because I've been thinking about converting my Formula to ram air but spending that much money and not feel a difference doesn't sound appealing to me

You could always just get the WS6 hood and leave the ram air airbox setup off of it. My buddy did that with his 97 Z28. He got the SS hood, but didn't do the factory ram air airbox. He just left the SLP CAI i gave him on it. And that way there is some outside air coming into the engine bay. Cause it does get pretty hot under there!

I love the 65-69 Corvairs. Very nice car. I've spent many hours wrenching on Corvairs. My dad had a 63 Greenbriar with a 110 and a 4 speed.

Thank you! Mine was orignaly a 110 with a glide. I didn't mind the 110, but was so happy to get rid of the glide when i went with the 140 and 4spd.
