I know its not advised to put hids in reflector housings. But what size hids are you guys running? I gave up trying to use google and kept coming up with BLS's over priced projector sets fml.

I am using:
5000k 35W 9006 - low beams
5000k 35W 880 - fogs
6000k 55W 9005 - high beams

I got my stuff from ddmtuning.com. Good prices imo, but the shipping takes awhile.
I've had my low beams installed since last year, HUGE improvement over stock.. and I have yet to be flashed.
I don't have the others installed yet, as I just got them the other day..
Hope this helps

Also got mine from ddmtuning.com. However, I chose to use '88 - '98 GM pickup projectors instead of stock housings. Fantastic output from this combo :)

What did you have to do to make those fit? Got any pictures?

One of the links above shows how I think. Anyway all you have to do is use pliers and carefully pull out the filament from the sealed beam and glue in the hids. The ballasts just need to be mounted in the bumper or under the hood. The stock wire plugs directly to the ballast. You don't need the extra wire harness ddm sells. Took me like 2 hours total time with waiting for the sealent to dry. I had to aim them down a bit. I passed dmv inspection with no issues last time.

I would need to dig through some hard drives to find pics on the installation process. Had a build thread on CZ28.com, but the site seems to be down. Looks like Google was kind enough to cache a few of the final result though. These were poor pictures taken immediately after. I went back in to refine it a bit. I also threw some projectors in place of the fog lights while I was there.

Found the housings cheapest on eBay. There is also a halo version of the housing, but I decided against it.

OP, I used the same method as one the above guys. Re-used the stock housings. I went a bit too high on the temp though. 8k low beams and they are too blue. I would recommend 6k or less. It's not hard to do. I just got a kit through ebay for the type of bulb the head lamp is and it went together easy as pie. If I could do it again, which I might one day, I would go with those housing like ^^ used. They look clean.

How was it making those housings fit? Looks really clean.

Wasn't bad at all. As far as I know, I was the second person to do this. Full credit goes to Procharged94Lt1 on CZ28. He had an excellent write-up there that made the whole process simple. I don't want to defer from the OP's original topic, so I will create a new thread detailing the build and link it here. I also edited my last post to include higher res photos of the final result.

Keep in mind that these housings are not reported to work with a stock hood. Once you've gone this route, there is no going back. The headlight "header" is cut to allow clearance as is the radiator support.
