View Full Version : Mobile 1 Extended performance 15,000 mile oil???
Has anyone used and driven their car with Mobile 1 Extended Performance oil with good or bad outcomes driving it over 10,000 + miles. It says you can change your oil every 15,000 miles. I don't know if I could drive that long with out flipping out about how long its been since I've chanced the oil. I did just buy it for my DD, a Nissan Altima, with a Mobile 1 filter. I figure if i don't trust it or get bad feed back from ya'll that I could get at least 5000 miles out of it. I drive a lot and it feels like I have to change my oil all the time. So, I'm hoping that this will help me save time and money in the long run. Thanks

I wouldn't go 15k on any oil. Even the royal purple in my vert. Better safe then sorry.
On a normal daily driver the dealers say 15k on synthetic. I'd Change the filter & too off at 5k and complete lof @ 10k Max.

I ran mobil one synthetic in my trailblazer ss on 15k intervals with no problems. I even had the oil tested at 15k once by Blackstone and they said it was still good. I think how long you can run out that far is going to be dependant on the mechanical condition of the engine. Rings, bearings, etc

I use Mobil 1 full synthetic and Mobil 1 filters but I change mine around every 4-6 months. It never reaches 3000 miles
Thanks for all the good info guys. I feel better that you all have actually tested it and everything came out fine. I now know my Altima with less that 38000 miles will be fine with this oil. Like I said before I drive a lot on the highway and would like to save time and money in the long run. Thanks again

I wouldn't run oil that long - keep the filter in mind. A cheap cardboard filter would likely collapse at some point.

Most likely I wont go over 7,000 miles, because it just feels too taboo to me. Also, I'm using a Mobile 1 oil filter.

I put the standard Mobile 1 synthetic and a Mobile 1 oil filter in mine and have been running it for almost 8000 miles now. I'm also getting kind of antsy though about when I should change it (first time running through the Mobile 1 to see how long it lasts). I've been checking the oil pretty regularly, though, and haven't noticed any real need to change it just yet. I'm probably going to end up doing it soon enough though just out of caution.

Have it tested instead. You might be surprised in how much life it has left

Testing is the only way to tell when its actually time to change. With that said. If you really want to go above and beyond. Install a bypass oil filter. Should be able to go well over 50k on one drain. :)
Here is a demonstration for a large diesel version of bypass oil filtration. It sold me.

Amsoil makes a smaller kit which is designed for smaller systems. I highly recommend it if you don't have oil leaks.
