I just picked up a 97 camaro ss (not lt4) with hurt motor and is missing the t56. Trying to decide to put back stock or transfer my 383 ltx out of my other camaro and finding a good t56( other car is auto) the body on my current car is twisted and I was already thinking of doing a 6 speed conversion but if I do it it will be sumped tank w/ external pump,12 bolt rear & so on. what do you guys think? Stock or modded I know they didn't make a lot of ss cars in 96-97 thats why im not to sure what to do.Any feed back you have would be great.

Isnt the SS's motor part of what makes it "rarer?" Without that its just a fancier camaro.... I say have at it... either 100% original when its something rare, or no holds bared...

depends on how long you intend to have it and what you want to use it for. if you want to hold on to it forever until its really rare then restore it. if not modify it. or do the swap but keep the original equipment as well
