Ive gotten to the point to where I dread working on my car. Everytime I need to do something I just want to get it over with as soon as possible. Ive always considered myself a gear head and loved turning wrenches, now, not so much.
I have everything I need to put on my true duals, install my cam, and some rear suspension parts. I was planning on having everything installed before March. It doesnt look like thats happening. I think my biggest problem right now is its cold, I dont have a lift, and I dont have many tools. Its just such a chore when I have to get the jackstands and wheels (that I use for jackstands), jack the car up, and then continuously search for that size wrench that I dont have. I wish I made more money so I could just drop the car at Spartan Performance and let him install everything and then just go pick it up. I just dont have the money right now between paying bills and now taxes (I get 1099 forms)
With that said, I have not lost any interest in the car itself. I still love it and am still going to the shootout. Hopefully when warm weather rolls around Ill be more motivated to swap cams etc.

When broken or messed up, its frustrating. When parts cost alot of money, its painful, but when she is RIGHT.... ALL IS RIGHT!

I have an issue with starting projects, buying everything I need, tearing it all apart and then not wanting to finish it. This is usually when something is broken that needs to be replaced.
When it comes to a cam, motor, etc... I'm usually very motivated to see the gains.

I gotta admit, I NEVER get tired of turning the wrenches on my car, im constantly looking for things to work on, sure spending money sucks but its usually always worth it, when people ask,'who does all your work?' Im proud to be able to say that I did/do everthing.

Tired? You haven't experienced tired yet until you start working on a car that never runs for you... If it ran, oh I'd love workin on it but it since it doesn't...that's when I'm tired.

I know what you mean. When i tried turning my car on the first time after the opti install, it didnt start, i had a small feeling of giving up with the car and loosing all hope. But once i fixed the ignition coil, and had it jump started, all hope was back.
The only thing that frustrates me, is not having enough time to work on my car.

Ive been there, but just not near to the extent you are with your car. It was a 94 SS clone I bought off a guy off CZ28.com. That car was a nightmare. I pulled the opti probably 10 times and couldnt get it to start. Finally found out that the spline drive was effed up and it wasnt getting timed right. I finally got it right and then noticed the wiring harness was hacked to hell. It kept giving me all kinds of problems and I ended up selling it once I got everything fixed on it. If I had a car as long as you and had the money in it you have, I just couldnt give up.
It used to be that I loved working on my car when I was modding it, but I hated doing repairs. Now everything seems like a chore. I dont mind spending money on it, because any hobby is going to cost money, hell my friend has 3 grand in tattoo work. I think I need to invest in better tools. With some good tools and a lift, I would love wrenching.

I love working on the camaro but i hate working on the damn truck. I got burned out because very one asks me to fix there damn cars and im sick of looking at every one elses crap and trying to figure out whats wrong and what not. With the camaro its on my time and when i feel good and damn ready to do it. As where with my truck its my dd so i have to make sure it runs. Plus i have gotten to the point in my life where i can be lazy and take it to the dealer and have them fix it where as before I had to do it because i couldn't afford to pay people to do it. I also have a 69 corvette in a storage shed that i haven't working on in years. It just over whelmed me in scope and in money. I have 10g into just the rolling chassis with no motor. Mean while I have gotten the Restoration of my step fathers 70 chevelle to the point that I am just about ready to get the motor in.
So i guess it just depends if the car or project excites me. I see working on my camaro as a real stress reliever though because I usually have a lot on my mind but when i work on that I'm so focused I'm not thinking about any thing but what I'm doing.

I get mad at It sometimes just wanna take it to someone else but my sense of pride comes into play. I've been there with installing not starting finally got frisky opened my throttle body up had my buddy crank it and I shot a bit of nitrous down the intake and ever since she fired. Guess I had to feed her some cough medicine, so to speak.

Outlaw,
I talk a lot shit but in the end...I won't give up. May take a 2 yr break. LOL But I won't give up. I miss having boost in my life.
AdamG,
Working on my car USE to be my stress reliever and now it is my STRESS! The c5z is a great substitue no doubt but there is nothing like my camaro. Just too much history w/ that car and it was my 1st rwd V8. Bought it completely stock and learned how to work on my own car by force and it's been that way ever since. I can't beat on the c5z the way I can the SRZ because she was built to handle a ton of abuse even w/ the stk rear. 1 money pit is enough and the c5z is perfect in it's current configuration so I really have no intentions of putting any money in it other than scheduled maintenance.

I read your thread I think I would pull my hair out with that project LOL. My car is no where near as advanced as your project . I like to keep it simple because I like to keep it at my skill level. Plus I dont want to go crazy and spend a small fortune on my car. There will always be someone faster then me so I'm just building it so its fun to build and fun to drive.
I did a v6 to v8 engine swap. The junk yard which is a huge junkyard and sells to a lot of corvette/fbody people said they tested the engine and all was good on it. Well after I installed It I had 5-6psi at warm idle. So i pulled the engine back out and rebuilt it put it back in. took my first drive with the new motor and a deer ran right into the side of the car breaking/shattering the fender and spider cracking the crap out of the door. My car bit back though I wont get to much detail what the car did to the deer. That was pretty frustrating.
Now people on the other hand I get frustrated with non stop. I hate dealing with people to the point besides this forum and work I don't talk to any one unless I absolutely have to. I just cant deal with people im super anti social lol.
