Found a set of heads a local shop ported for some guy who never came back to buy them, they have a 178cc intake runner and 60cc chambers. 1.94/1.5 valves ,
Flow #s are about 257/196
I've never seen an it1 head that has been ported with such a small runner, how do you guys think these would perform?

Great on a 283 cu in motor...

ha.. i figured i wouldnt want to be under 190cc, you could always open it up from the 178 cc though, right?

Depends. Some guys won't touch ported heads... something ported that little I would venture to say most guys will be willing to work on some more though.
If I could get the set for like $400 I'd buy them.

I wouldn't waste your money. Makes no sense to take a gamble on performance just because a part is cheap and it MIGHT work. You'll probably end up with a possibly piss-poor running motor that you won't be happy with, then you end up having to start over anyway.

I guess do things right the first time is the way to go.. if some le1s or 2s dont pop up for a decent price sometime soon I might take the chance though..

A build with that mentality rarely ends well. Just sayin'. It always pays off to spend the money (or save until you do) to get proven parts that deliver exactly what you want.
